Salina, Kansas is a small town located in northeastern Kansas. The population was 9,829 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Topeka-St Louis metropolitan area. Salina is the county seat of Lincoln County and home to the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum. The city was named after James Bowie Salinas, an early settler in what is now Salina. In 1867, David Beatty donated 2 acres (0 km²) of land east of downtown to establish what would become Maryville College which today offers undergraduate degrees in business administration (MBA), engineering (CEE), education (EDUC), health sciences (DNP), information technology (IT), marketing/communication/consumerism/public relations/administrative law (LAW). In 1898, Maryville College merged with Wichita State Teachers College creating Wichita State University which operates as an agricultural research university as well as one of United States' leading private universities for graduate studies in business administration (), engineering (), education ()*, health sciences (), information technology ())*and law (). On July 1st 1959 Wichita State University became Wichita State University System with ten campuses across Kansas including Salina where we currently offer our undergraduate degrees in business administration (), engineering (), education ()*, health sciences (), information technology ())*and law (). Salina, Kansas is a town located in Saline County, Kansas, United States. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. The earliest known inhabitants of the area now called Salina were the Wichita people who arrived in 1859. In 1865, the Chisholm Trail linked Larned and Topeka and led to the post office at Salina. The first school in what is now Salina was built on Main Street in 1868 by M. W. Dye and operated by local students. In 1893, J. C. Hodge donated land for a high school which became Salina High School in 1897; it still operates today as one of the largest high schools in Kansas State University District One (KSUD1). The town was incorporated on September 26, 1907; its first mayor was Aulus Biddlephalus (1863-1937).
