Pittsburg is a small town in Kearney County, Kansas, United States. The population was 1,844 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pittsburg-La Vista, KS Micropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlers in Pittsburg were James and Mary Ayer who arrived in 1845. They built a cabin on the same spot where they now live. The Ayers raised five children and died young. Their only daughter married Wm Hargrave and moved to Ohio but their son James stayed behind to take over the farmstead and ran it until his death in 1901. In 1902, John Shearer bought the land from James Hargrave and started farming it himself. He raised barley, corn, wheat, oats, potatoes and chickens until his death in 1922. After John's death his widow continuing to run the farm alone until she sold it to Rufus Loomis Jr., who also bought some property next door in 1924 which he developed into an apartment complex called "Loomis Place". From 1926 through 1975 (the last full decade of its existence), Pittsburg had its own school district with its own superintendent; this system was discontinued when the Kearney County School District was formed in 1975 In 1927 Gunnar Peterson established a grocery store on Main Street near present day High School (now known as Peterson's). The store continued operation for many years before being taken down during World War II because of wartime bombing raids that destroyed most downtown businesses including Gunnar Peterson's store which still stands today as an historical landmark inside High School walls - one of only two buildings remaining standing from pre-war downtown Pittsburg In 1951 Donny Keener opened up Keener's Department Store on Second Street between Main & Richards Streets - this business continued operations until 1984 when Donny Keener died leaving his family ownership of the store which closed down again after several years without retail sales due to lack of customers Pittsburgh experienced significant growth starting around 1965 with the opening of KFC by Dick Williams - not longafter other restaurant chains followed suit throughout Kearney County KFC eventually shut down permanently due to lack of competition while other restaurants such as Arby's (opened concurrently) became more popular providing jobs for locals while also drawing tourists away from Pittsburgh In 2013 Pittsburg celebrated its centennial year commemoration with a variety of events culminating with an open air parade through town streets

Unfortunately, this innovative design was soon superseded by other rifles that fired more powerful rounds and caused damage to nearby objects. In 1876, Samuel Colt developed his Model 36 revolver which used a revolving cylinder instead of a breech block system for firing round through an open receiver into a target at long distances. Thisweapon quickly became popular amonggun enthusiasts and helped lay the foundation for Shooter Eye Protection Devices (SEPD) industry today!

The city was named for General John Cattail who had come to Kansas as part of the American Civil War effort and became known as "the conqueror of Wichita."
