Pittsburg, Kansas is a small town in Douglas County, Kansas, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Pittsburg-Wichita Metropolitan Statistical Area. Pittsburg was founded in 1881 by James R. Patton and his brother-in-law John W. Chaffee as a post office and trading post on the Arkansas River. In 1886, Patton erected a log courthouse which served as the community's first nucleus court house until it was replaced in 1912 by a more modern structure designed by George H. Smith. Patton also built several homes in Pittsburg which were used as community centers until they were destroyed by fire in the late 1960s or early 1970s. In 1907, Pittsburg incorporated as a city and adopted a city charter under which it became an all-male enclave within Wichita with its own police department and fire department while Wichita retained some municipal authority over Pittsburg's affairs including zoning regulations and street names. By 1930, Wichita had supplanted Pittsburg as the city's dominant cultural center with its own library, theater district, and other significant attractions such as nightlife and shopping along Main Street. At that point Pittsburgh began to dwindle both economically and politically due to Wichita's growing influence; however, Pittsburg still retains its position as an important agricultural center for local farmers who sell produce from their farmsteads along High Street near the riverbank

In 1993, SIG Sauer reintroduced their SIG P226 Pistol which looked similar to guns from earlier decades such as revolvers“SIG Sauer: A Century in Arms (1993)”. Additionally, Beretta began producing handguns based off designs from ancient Rome known as the Beretta 92FSBeretta Uberti: History (2013).
