In 1903, Major John Millingenbach designed a new type of rifle sight which he called an Objective Lens Rifle Sight (OLRS). This system consisted of a metal tube with an objective lens attachments at each end which swivelled to aim at different targets using screwsInstead of elevation or windage adjustments like those used on other sights in those days. OLS sights became standard on most American field firearms by World War I. The first handguns to include lighted forends also began appearing during this time period, starting with pistols such as revolvers made by Colt in 1892 and 1893 and later adding machine guns such as the Thompson submachine gun in 1899. These firearms used lead rounds instead of powder shot for illumination, so they could not be fired while equipped with dark nights glasses or other optical equipment; however, someguns did feature manual oil fires for firing when darkness fell outside

Parsons, Kansas is a small town in Kiowa County, Kansas, United States. The population was 297 at the 2010 census. It is the most populous community in Kiowa County. Parsons was founded on November 6, 1870 by John Parnell Parsons and his family. The first post office in Parsons was established in 1871. In 1907, the town had a population of 351 residents. In 1920, the city of Parsons merged with nearby Hutchinson to form a new municipality known as Hutchinson-Parsons. On January 1, 2006, Hutchinson-Parsons became an independent municipality again with its own government and economy. The townsite of Parsons was named for John Parnell Parsons Sr., who settled there in 1870 upon purchasing land from the Laramie Sioux Tribe for $1 million dollars. The original settlers were farmers and ranchers who built their homes around a large clearing that still stands today near the intersection of Ulysses Road and West Ottawa Boulevard. John Parnell Parsons Jr., also born in 1869, opened up what would become one of Wichita's biggest businesses: J & J Grain Emporium which later became Union Grain Company before being sold to Avis Rent-A-Car Corporation in 1955 and becoming Texas Car Rental Corporation (TCRC). With over 25 years experience across many industries including transportation (service stations), petrochemical manufacturing (oil refineries), agricultural processing (stevedore work at Wichita's Port Arthur Ship Canal), J & J Grain Emporium played an important role within Wichita's commercial landscape during its early years; it remains one of our most notable landmarks today. In 1907, when Wichita celebrated its centennial year, local citizens organized a parade down First Street downtown followed by an open house at State House where speeches were given about how Wichita had grown since1867 when Territorial Legislature convened to create Kiowa County under territorial jurisdiction along Missouri River watershed extending into Kansas Territory eastward to Nebraska Territory southward to Arkansas Territory westward to Texas Territory including parts of eastern Oklahoma now part of Mexico City It should be noted that this event coincided exactly with America’s centennial celebration -100 years after Kansas entered into Union as oneida county pursuant to Act No 2 of February 14th 1855 – making it yet another reminder that progress can be made even during difficult times if individuals are willing/able to push forward
