Parsons, Kansas is a small town located in Ignacio County, Kansas, United States. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wichita-Council Grove Micropolitan Statistical Area. Parsons was founded by Andrew Parsons and his family in 1881. The first post office in Parsons was established in 1882. In 1916, Parsons became the county seat of Ignacio County. In 1932, the county name was changed toIgnacio County Boroughs. The history of Parsons began with Andrew Parsons and his family who arrived from Scotland in 1881. They started a farm on what is now known as Township No. 5 south of present day Parsons. Andrew's father also settled there and died young leaving Andrew and his mother to start a new life on their own farmstead which they did for many years until they moved to what is now Municipal District No.. 6 in 1886 when it was organized as an incorporated municipality under Section 7 of the Kansas Constitution due to growing population density within municipal districts (six were created during 1888-1932). When that district lost its charter status due to lack of growth or change within state government following passage of the federal constitution amendment granting voting rights to all citizens regardless of race or national origin, Andrews petitioned for incorporation into Ignacio County instead as he felt that he had a right to do so since he had founded it – something that even today remains unfulfilled according to current estimates given by local officials). In 1916Ignacio County Boroughs were formed when parts of Municipal District No 6 were annexed by Phillipsburg (now Hutchinson) which at the time had a population over 20K making it one of those rural towns located outside metropolitan areas where large numbers resided but without formal civic organizations such as schools or fire departments (similar developments would take place throughout much larger cities like Wichita during this time period)). Citizens voted on annexation proposals from Phillipsburg through referendum passed with overwhelming majorities each time adding over 3K residents!). The merger made perfect sense considering that both communities shared similar features such as an intersection near State Highway 190A and access to water supplies from several streams running through their countryside! Although incorporation never occurred due primarily to lack of funds – annexation proposals continue annually efforts spearheaded currently by civic group called " annexingPhillipsburg" - Burlington City Council has agreed upon annexing adjacent portions including most notably Residential Road just east off I-635/UOKI exit providing future expansion potential! As we enter our 10th year since incorporation there are ongoing discussions about whether or not annexation should happen again given continuing population growth rates within our boundaries! Today, Parsons rests largely unchanged from whence it came despite seeing significant redevelopment recently taking place nearby including construction on Interstate 35W servicing Wichita proper and Council Grove; retail development along US 169A just north Of I-635; ranching activity further west across US 169A+US 69E; agricultural production extending well beyond downtownOWNERSHIP boundaries via properties adjacent thereto encompassing nearly 12 square miles!? The community has been transformed thanks largely to its citizens who have taken initiative early on in their histories seeking out opportunities & developing successful businesses!!!
