Parsons, Kansas is a town in Haskell County, Kansas, United States. The population was 602 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wichita–Hutchinson Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded by John Parsons in 1867 and named for him. Parsons sold land to build a settlement here and named it after his wife's birthplace, Saratoga Springs, New York. The first post office was established in Parsons on October 24, 1868. The town grew rapidly with the arrival of settlers from other parts of Kansas in the late 1860s and 1870s. By 1890, Parsons had a population of 1,500 people. In 1898, Parsons became an independent city when it merged with nearby Hutchinson. In 1907, General Electric built its first electric power plant in Parsons—the largest such plant constructed in the US at that time. The plant manufactured radios and television sets during World War II as part of the war effort; it later became dormant and beenqueathed to Wichita State University as an educational research center called GE-Parsons National Research Center (now known as Wichita State University equivalents). When Wichita State University closed down in 1996, ownership changed hands several times before finally passing along to Microsoft Corporation who kept it until 2003 when it reverted back to private ownership again Today Parsons is still a small town but has seen many changes over the years due to its proximity to Wichita and KSU

Parsons, Kansas is a town in Linn County, Kansas, United States. The population was 1,224 at the 2010 census. The Osborne post office was established in 1881 and discontinued in 1907. It was located in present-day Parsons. The first settler to arrive in Parsons was James Wray who arrived on July 2, 1854. He named the place after his father-in-law Amos Parsons. Wray's brother Isaac also settled there around this time. In 1855, John Tipton began his own farm near the current site of Guthrie and by 1860 he had four farms in the area including Parsons. By 1865, all of these farmers had died and their land became part of the east section of Linn County (now Chambers County). In 1886, J C Osborne came to Parsons from Overland City and soon started a grocery store on Main Street which still exists today as an old fashioned grocery store with several other businesses inside it such as a dry goods store and bank. When the city of Wichita Annexed Linn County in 1907, Osborne's store became one of its first business establishments within Wichita limits. The town prospered through World War I because during that time there were no motor vehicles or refrigeration so people could not spoil food like they did now with modern technology; instead they kept everything cold by having barrels filled with ice delivered to their homes daily! After World War I ended local factories closed down leaving few jobs for locals but the community held onto its prosperities until 1950 when oil prices plummeted which caused many local businesses to go bankrupt including Osborne's Grocery Store which shuttered its doors for good that same year
Parsons was Fenton County seat from 1849-1857. It was moved to Topeka in 1857.
