In 1935, REMINGTON-STEVENS INCORPORATED merged with Winchester Repeating Arms Company to form Winchester Repeating Arms Corporation. In 1968, WICOMICO RIFLES COMPANY was formed from a merger of two Remington rifles companies-Remington Aircraft Services andFreedom Armory. In 1907-08, Overland Park became home to the world's first interurban streetcar system when the Chicago Elevated Railway began service between downtown Chicago and Englewood Cemetery; it remained an important transportation artery into inner Chicago until replaced by cars in 1935-36 Today, Overland Park is a thriving community with many cultural attractions including an indoor/outdoor water park called Splash City Waterpark & Aquarium (opened in 2009), three professional sports teams - the Chiefs (NFL), Royals (MLB), and Wizards (Wizards) - as well as several high-end retailers including Macy's Department Store and Sears Roebuck & Co., which remain headquartered hereabouts since 1925 also home to Philips Arena where basketball games are played annually against various NBA teams as well as international events such as the World Cup

The first systematic exploration of this area began with John Cockerill's party on July 24, 1855, when he set out from Independence Rock on his journey to claim all present day Hutchinson County as part of his new United States territory. He named this new tract "Kansas." In 1861, following the American Civil War, Missouri ceded over most of her western lands to Kentucky, including Overland Park; this left Kansas without any eastern settlements except Wichita (founded by General Osage Indian Chief La Salle). In 1865, during Reconstruction efforts to bring former Confederate soldiers back into society after their release from prison or military service across the country (known as paroling), Congress passed a law known as the Freedmen's Bureau Act which allowed black Americans who had been freed through armed conflict or political violence in South Carolina or Arkansas to live permanently within their own states but were subject to certain restrictions such as not owning property or voting rights. This act led to numerous African American pioneers moving into what is now Overland Park during that era including Solomon Goldsmiths (founder of Goldsmiths Advertising Agency) and Joseph Pulitzer Jr.'s father Paddy Pulitzer II who settled there in 1871 with his family from Burlington Springs outside Philadelphia. One early resident was Abraham Lincoln who served two terms as Mayor of Topeka before being elected President of America on November 3rd 1868 - one year after Topeka became an incorporated town chartered under Wichita jurisdiction; he would later be impeached for perjury related charges stemming from that election season dramatic events leading up to Main Street between Lawrence and Topeka Streets whereupon he took refuge at First Presbyterian Church until called back onto the campaign trail by then Governor David Wofford; however no evidence suggests foul play ever occurred despite allegations by some private individuals motivated only by personal gain - topekaans generally hold him chiefly responsible for poor financial management throughout much post-war America that ultimately led directly to Great Depression conditions throughout much Midwest region including KS
