Overland Park achieved national attention during World War II when it served as headquarters for General Douglas MacArthur’s Seventh Army while he led operations against Japan from 1942 to 1945. Today, Overland Park remains one of America’s most vibrant cities with businesses large and small presence throughout its downtown area including two high-rise buildings – One at 3rd and Elm Streets designed by LEED Platinum standards proponent Renzo Piano, Home Depot has its own building on main Street across from Frontier Airlines Terminal 1B and local restaurants occupy nearly every corner of Main Street between Third Avenue West and Interstate 70 East; primarily American cuisine but also German beer gardens serve up some interesting snacks late into the night! Today there are plans for development along I-70 corridor adjacent to Municipal Airport including apartments, office space, retail stores etc., however much remains unknown about this potential project until final approvals are received from various stakeholders who will have input into planning decisions including business owners/ tenants etc.; such activity would be important not only because it would create new jobs but also helped preserve traffic congestion problems on I-70 which continue to this day despite multiple projects being undertaken within or adjacent to OverlandsPark KS since 2005; these projects have resulted in dramatic reductions in travel times inside Kansascity although still causing long delays outside peak hours

Overland Park is a city in Sedgwick County, Kansas, United States. The population was 24,711 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Sedgwick County. The city was founded in 1871 by James H. Overland and is named after him. The first settlers to the area were farmers who came from Massachusetts in 1851 and 1852. They started a small farming operation and built a few homes near present-day Overland Park Boulevard and Downing Street. In 1870, James Hoverland bought 640 acres (250 hectares) of land east of present-day Overland Park Boulevard from John A. Campbell for $3 per acre ($36 per hectare). He named the tract Overland Park because he wanted it to be an "open field for agriculture". In 1872, the first post office was established in Overland Park; it was called Brownville because that was where mail arrived on horseback from Boston. In 1886, the town of Springdale was founded adjacent to Overland Park by residents of Springdale who had purchased land along Clear Creek south of present-day downtown OverLAND PARK while still living in towns within Sedgwick County. By 1899, over 60 villages had been located within Sedgwick County with over 100 businesses operating inside their limits; everything from grocery stores to mental hospitals were located within these villages! Overlanders began moving into this growing community during the late 1800s when railroad construction made wagon travel between Wichita and Topeka much more affordable than travelling by stagecoach or carriages across Missouri countryside! One early resident recalled “It took about one day for each wagonload we brought back ammunition to build up our stocks” – just as today’s motorists transport essential supplies hundreds of miles every day!
