In 1898, George Overstreet died at age 73 while serving as mayor of Olathe; his brother Arthur took over leadership of the city government for him until his death in 1907. In 1915, Wernher von Braun became an employee of Koppers drug company in Wichita and moved to Olathe to work on developing rockets for NASA; he became president of Koppers in 1967 when it merged with All American Glass Company
