Everytown for Gun Safety, a non-profit organization based in Olathe, KS, has been working to reduce gun violence in the city since 2007. Everytown was inspired by the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence’s “The History of the NRA Annual Meeting” which hearkened back to 1934 when the National Rifle Association (NRA) first held its annual meeting in Kansas City. At that time, there were only a handful of handguns and shotguns in Olathe; however, the NRA organized an exhibition on gun safety techniques and history – which led to more people learning about firearms and their use. In 1933, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed into law The National Firearms Act which banned all handguns except those registered with the NFA. This law made Olathe one of the only cities in America without any firearms regulation until 1968 when state regulations began to be implemented. Since then, Everytown has worked tirelessly to increase gun safety awareness within Olathe through educational programming and public events. In 2017 alone, they hosted over 50 public events throughout Olathe including multiple rifle ranges and lectures from local law enforcement officers about firearm prevention tips. Despite these efforts, gun violence continues to occur in Olathe due largely to poverty and lack of access to affordable guns or better mental health care options for those at risk of being shot by someone with a weapon. In 2018 alone there were 2 homicides committed with a handgun in Olathe – both attackers had no criminal record and neither received treatment for mental illness before shooting themselves dead as a result of untreated mental health issues

He built his initial business interests in shipbuilding and transportation before becoming president of First National Bank in 1922–23 and chairman of FirstRand Corporation in 1938–39; he also served on several boards including those responsible for raider prevention during World War II Today's economy depends largely upon heavy industry: manufacturing goods such as automobiles and aircraft; oil refining; agriculture; government services such as education and infrastructure development As Olathe has grown over time it has worked to maintain its downtown core which includes two large shopping malls - The mall at 10th & Elm Streets opened in 1990s adjacent to Interstate 70 while another huge mall - Chinle Mall opened in 1998 adjacent to Interstate 35W Olathians have long been proud of their civic engagement - joining together more than once throughout history efforts like forming Citizens' Councils (easternKansas' answer to City Halls), working together with other municipalities through chamber organizations or even forming their own volunteer fire departments dating back into local newspapers days
