His mill continued producing flour until it closed in 1971; however, Witherspoon's memory is still alive here thanks to several commemorative programs carried out throughout the years including a symposium on gun control held annually in honor of him last year. Today, Witherspoon Elementary School serves as a reminder of his contribution to this community as well as others across America who have made similar sacrifices for freedom!

However, during World War II, many residents chose to enlist and fight overseas instead of stay home and support their families. As a result, the population decreased from 4,000 to 2,500 by 1945. Despite this decrease in population size over time, Mcpherson still remains an important community today with a rich history that can be experienced firsthand during any visit to the area!
