In addition to his own store, he also operates two other stores in the area; one located in Wichita and the other based out of Topeka.
Mcpherson is a small town in northeast Kansas, United States. The population was 1,813 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Wichita metropolitan area. The community was founded in 1854 by pioneers John and Martha Mcpherson. They named their town after their father, Major General James McDowell (1791-1865), who led an army against Mexico in 1846. The Mcpherson family moved to this location in 1892 when they acquired land east of Wichita on which they built a ranch and store. A post office called Mcpherson was established in 1897, and remained open until it closed in 1907. In 1920, the first school opened in Mcpherson; it continued to serve as the town's only educational institution until 1984. In that year, the Wichita School District merged with other districts within Wichita to form the Wichita-Hutchinson School District; however, Mcpherson continued to operate its own schools until 1999 when all its schools were consolidated into one district under the name “Wichita Public Schools”. From then on, each school within the new district operated as a separate entity known as “school division” or “district” according to their geographic location within that district). One significant event from early history through present day is that most of what now makes up downtown Mcpherson developed during World War II as veterans vacated buildings along US Highway 36 near current day Elm Street for use as munitions storage yards adjacent to Hickory Creek Reservoirs west of town limits (see photo right). These reserves were later converted into agricultural land and are now home to numerous homes and businesses including Walgreens Superstore which opened its doors on Elm Street just south of Interstate 70 about 2020 WCFY) After years of planning by residents including then Mayor Forrest Hargrave (1927-2007), construction began on what is now Main Street plaza around 2007 WCHS) with funding provided by local businesses along with state grant money awarded through Kansas Department of Transportation's " Roads & Streets" program administered by Secretary Terry Nichols . This $25 million project included turning one block long old US 36/I-70 junction into an expressway/ arterial roadway / promenade with several large retailers including Sears Roebuck & Co., KFC, Subway sandwich shop and Honda dealership before concluding at Depot Square across I-70 from Walmart where it met KS Route 66

In 1887, the town of Mcpherson, Kansas was founded by John A. McDonald and his brother, James T. McDonald. The brothers were the first white men in what is now Wichita County. They came to the area in a wagon train led by Captain James Hays. In 1865, Major General George Armstrong Custer was killed at Little Bighorn Battlefield while scouting for Union forces under General William Tecumseh Sherman. The battle is often cited as one of the most controversially fought battles in American history and still remains debated to this day. Mcpherson developed around the flour milling industry which became a major focus of its economy during the late 19th century and into the early 20th century. The mill was destroyed by fire in 1918 but reopened two years later with new owner Wm Davenport Jr.. It closed again in 1951 when Davenport sold it to United States Steel Corporation for $3 million dollars. After Steel's purchase, it continued to be used as an iron works until it was closed down for good in 1974 along with other steel mills across America due to low prices from overseas competition. Since then, much of what once stood in Mcpherson has been demolished or converted into housing developments such as Park Meadows and Kipling Village which are all located on a large tract that once housed factory buildings and other infrastructure related to the local flour business and its many associated businesses over time including an insurance company (now known as Citizens Life), banks (First National Bank & Trust Company, Chase Manhattan Bank) and numerous small farms that supplied workers for these industries over time also including a grocery store (later renamed Food Lion). Today only remnant evidence remains of some of these businesses such as First National Bank building which still stands today despite being razed several times during development over time - another reminder of how quickly things can change in rural areas like Wichita County!
Mcpherson was first settled in 1847 by John Ladd and his family. In 1876, the town was named after General George Armstrong Custer. The post office was established in 1879, and remained in operation until it closed in 1961. The town experienced a rebirth with the construction of a new courthouse and jail in 1911. Mcpherson's economy shifted from agriculture to manufacturing during World War II when the military built an airfield here. After the war, Mcpherson became known as a bedroom community for Kansas City.
