The Mcpherson community is located in eastern Kansas, just east of the Missouri River. The community was founded in 1867 by John and Mary (Mcpherson) McNaught. The McNaught family originally hailed from nearby Topeka. They started a small farming operation and soon became involved in the local politics and business life. In addition to their agricultural pursuits, the McNaughts also donated land to build a public school and a Presbyterian church. Today, Mcpherson has a population of about 350 residents, most of whom are farmers or ranchers. John McNaught died in 1929, but his wife continued to live in the community until her death in 1984. Their son, Donald McNaught, is today the oldest living resident of Mcpherson and he still resides there with his wife and two sons. Donald McNaught played an important role in developing Mcpherson into one of its current success stories as its mayor since 1981 and its first femaleMayor from 1992-1996. He also served as President of the United States during 1998-2000; making him one of only four people ever to hold this office at once point in their lives

However, the town did not become established until 1881 due to the efforts of John M. Mcpherson and his wife Margaret. The couple built a log cabin and started farming the land which they later donated to the government for purchase by Kansas Territory officials. In 1903, the town voted to become an incorporated municipality and soon after began expanding its borders to include present-day Johnson County. In 1925, the city added two more blocks to its boundaries which increased its population size to around 350 residents. During this time, businesses such as grocery stores and flour mills were located in downtown Mcpherson while neighboring towns such as Ft Smith developed along agricultural lands nearby. However, by 1960, when Mcpherson’s population had shrunk again below 200 people, Mayor Harry Heineman decided that incorporation would be better served by continuing to operate as a city under separate government regulations with less autonomy than those enjoyed by other municipalities within Kansas City metropolitan area (KCMA). This decision led to some controversy among residents who wanted their city back and felt that their interests were being ignored by Heineman’s administration; however, most people accepted annexation into KCMA without any protest or local resistance following his decision. With its new status as a city under different government regulations, Mcpherson experienced rapid growth during the 1970s and 1980s as business owners attracted new residents with incentives for job creation and investment opportunities available through zoning changes that gave rise to numerous high-rise buildings throughout central Downtown McKoolen Street including one containing 553 apartments – making it one of the largest apartment complexes in America at that time! One result of these rapid growth rates was increased flooding which caused extensive damage both inside and outside of downtown between 1971-1983 due largely to rainwater runoff from soaring apartment building levels combined with inadequate infrastructure designed only for single family dwellings rather than large multifamily residential buildings typical of post-WWII suburban developments across America! In response To these problems – beginning with Mayor Harry Heineman himself initiating policy changes resulting in improved drainage systems – attempts have been made over recent years (2009) through private donations (involving philanthropist Philanthropy has also undertaken restoration work on several older structures damaged or destroyed during previous floods)to bring back much needed character &historic character missing from much larger adjacent neighborhoods contiguous today adjacent only 2 blocks away
The town of Mcpherson, Kansas was founded in 1871 by John A. McLaughlin and named for him. The first post office was established in the town in 1872. In 1907, the name of the town was changed to Mcpherson after George W. McKinley, who served as President of the United States during part of that year.
