On July 1, 1860, John A. Mcpherson founded what would become the town of Mcpherson, Kansas. The first settlers in this region were farmers who arrived in the mid-19th century. By the early 20th century, Mcpherson was a small community with a few hundred residents. However, its significance for history cannot be overstated. John A. Mcpherson is considered to be one of the most important entrepreneurs in the history of Kansas City. He played an instrumental role in developing and leading America's largest city during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. In addition, he is credited with developing key aspects of both American society andKansas culture. Mcpherson was born on October 2, 1825, in County Clareachtan Ireland. His parents were James McAuley and Mary (née O'Neill). After immigrating to America at age 16, he joined his father on his farm in Kankakee County, Illinois Territory (now Stroudsburg), Illinois Territory (now West Virginia). There he worked as a farmer and boyhood friend of future Kansas City Mayor John Hennepin helped found what would later become First National Bank in 1859; it remains one of KC's most significant institutions today. This experience helped Mcpherson develop his entrepreneurial skills; by 1865 he had opened two other businesses - a flour mill and a wagon line - within three years of starting his first venture. In 1868 Mcpherson moved westward to challenge incumbent Ulysses S Grant for election as President of Missouri; he lost but made an impact nonetheless by helping organize other anti-Grant partisans into what became known as "The Midwestern Union." Mcpherson served as mayor of Kansas City from 1870 until his death there on January 7, 1909; during that time KC experienced rapid growth due to heavy investment from new arrivals – many German immigrants - along with major development projects such as the opening of Jackson Street Railway Station and Molloy Park Cemetery which became one of KC's earliest major tourist attractions after becoming part Of city limits in 1895.) This projectile was made out of a hardwood material with a small metal point that could be pulled back and fired at high speed like a bowman’s arrow (Fenwick). The projectiles were designed to kill animals by piercing their vital organs. In 1795, British scientist Dr Thomas Young developed the first firearm using gunpowder which he called the “Volley Gun” (Porter). This weapon consisted of two cannons which would fire shot at different distances using powder that was inflated into balls by pressure (Fench). This invention led to the beginning of warfare and changed the way humans fought against other creatures on land and in water (Galloway). However, rifle fire still proved successful at hitting enemy soldiers behind cover(Dalton-Pope) thereby enabling victory for both sides during WWI. During World War II ammunition shortages led to development of incendiary munitions such as napalm which caused great destruction(Kerr) however these weapons ultimately failed because they lacked accuracy(Munroe-Smithy).
