Manhattan experienced some hard times during the Depression years but has since recovered with many new businesses opening up including a high-end clothing store chain known as Citizens Clothing & Activewear which relocated to downtown from Overland Park in 2007; two professional baseball teams (Kansas City Royals and Wichita Chiefs) that have played their home games there since 1955; several restaurants and bars including several Japanese sushi restaurants; two movie theaters; two strip clubs; three convenience stores; one Home Depot; one pet groomer/animal feed store; multiple hair salons; four churches (two Presbyterian and two Lutheran); eight private schools (four elementary schools, four middle school districts, four high school districts); six hospitals including Memorial Hermann Hospital (the largest hospital in southwest Kansas), Midtown Medical Center (largest health care provider east of cancer services), five ambulatory surgical centers including One Manchester Place[1], three chiropractors' offices - all located within blocks of each other - as well as numerous RVs parked on dedicated lots for "parking" purposes near shopping malls like Overland Park's mall complex,[2] public libraries such as Central Library[3] and Blackhawk Library[4]; eleven golf courses throughout Lawrence County [5]; seven tennis courts - all with full-sized travel lawns - plus an outdoor pool open to residents free of charge year-round One popular amusement park located adjacent to downtown included Six Flags Discovery World which opened in 1966 adjacent to IMAX theater District 5D which also featured AMC theaters across from it onMain Street upstream from Times Square following completion of an $85 million project by Mayor Harry Carver Jr., then Chairman emeritus for Time Warner Entertainment Company.[6][7][8][9] Another major attraction also locatedadjacentto Downtown Manhattan were Citi Field Racetrack(now Yankee Stadium)[10]and LaGuardia Airport both closed down around 2002 due to budget cuts while still hosting various events at nearby venues like Roosevelt High School[11][12][13][14], Jay Pritzker Pavilion[15], Art Museum Of Chicago[16](now Museum Of African American History & Culture), State Fairgrounds West Side Pavilion Complex,[17] Busch Gardens Williamsburg theme park,[18] Rockefeller Center – previously known as Schenectady Palace – formerly known as Madison Square Garden – once again becoming Penn Station making it less likely that either would ever close again given their sheer size.[19],[20],[21],[22]. Finally additional points worth noting are: Empire State Building remains unoccupied despite being vacantsince 1978 after its previous owner Time Warner decided not to renew its lease
