Liberal, Kansas is a small town in southern Kansas that has seen its share of gun-related tragedies. The town was founded in 1881 by farmers who moved to the area from Missouri. Over time, Liberal grew into a small town with a population of around 100 people. In 1892, however, it was hit hard by the Panic of 1893 and experienced significant economic decline. As a result, many residents decided to buy handguns instead of shotguns or rifles. In 1907, Liberal passed an ordinance making it illegal to sell firearms without a license. This law remained in effect until 1938 when it was repealed due to pressure from the NRA. In 1949, another ordinance banning possession of handguns was passed and remain in place to this day. As a result of these policies, Liberal has had one of the highest rates of firearm ownership per capita in Kansas. Despite this high rate of gun ownership, there have been several incidents which have left locals injured or dead involving firearms. On October 3rd, 2018, two men were shot and killed after getting into an argument outside an indoor shooting range near Liberal. One man died from his injuries while the other survived with non-life-threatening wounds. However, these proposals never made it into law becauseJohnson was unable to get enough support from Congress for them to pass through Congress. In 1968, Conservative candidate Barry Goldwater won an election which overturned much of Lyndon Johnson's progressive Gun Control Policies during his time as President of America - this led to increased NRA support among Republicans throughout America which has allowed them To continue pushing for more strict GUN CONTROL REGULATIONS despite failed attempts at passing them through Congress
