It quickly became known as “the best place in town to shoot guns” because of its high quality and accuracy. Lenexa is a city in Kansas, United States. The population was 9,852 at the 2010 census. It is located on the banks of the Arkansas River and part of Topeka metropolitan area. The city was founded in 1881 as Lenexa Springs by pioneer farmers, settlers and merchants from Illinois. In 1907, Lenexa became an incorporated town. Today, it has a population of over 12,000 people who are made up of nearly every racial and ethnic group in Kansas. The history of Lenexa begins with its founders: pioneers who came to Kansas in 1881 seeking new land to farm and build homes on. At first they thought only of settling down near Wichita but soon realized that there were plenty of good acres available for farming west of the river in what is now Topeka County. They named their small community after one of their early supporters - Charles Hinton - who had helped finance their trip to Kansas City. That same year, three men arrived from Illinois with a wagon load of goods - flour, cattle and other items needed for starting a new life in this new land - and laid out Lenexa Springs on what would become its central square today. Over time, other settlers joined the original nucleus of early residents – most notably David Iverson (1851-1924), a dentist from Carbondale who began buying land here himself when he saw how well things were going for his fellow Illinoisans near Wichita. By 1903, almost all present residents had relocated here permanently – making Lenexa oneOf America's largest cities by 1910 thanks to inexpensive real estate prices and growing industry along the Arkansas Riverfront which had lured many businesses northward since Dodge City days: timber companies such as Armoury & Company Limited built mills there while justice Precinct No’s 2-6 served as an important center for law enforcement during prohibition years (1912-1920). Lenexa also has a high school which offers classes for students from Pre K through 12th grades as well as professional trades programs such as welding and carpentry among others

By 1934, Lenexa had reached its peak population size with over 200,000 residents. However, the Great Depression struck Lenexa hard and the population began to decline throughout the 1930s. In 1939, due to World War II efforts and increased military spending,Lenexa's population peaked at around 255,000 residents. However, by 1949 (the year after war-time restrictions were lifted),LenEXA's population had decreased by 25% due to emigration and natural attrition. The once thriving city gradually lost its economic relevance until it completely disappeared from local government records by 2000.
