Lenexa, Kansas is a city in the U.S. state of Kansas, located on the Arkansas River. The population was 6,814 at the 2010 census. Lenexa is one of six cities in Johnson County and is part of the Wichita–Hoover metropolitan area. It lies about 60 miles (100 km) west-northwest of Wichita and 120 miles (190 km) east-southwest of Topeka. The first settler in Lenexa was James Fenton, who arrived in 1857 and built a cabin on the banks of the Arkansas River. Fenton's cabin became known as "Fenton's Ferry." In 1859, John Aiken settled near present day Lenexa after traveling downriver from Prairie du Chien with his family to purchase land for farming. He named his emigrant settlement "Lenexa" after General Isaac Newton Washington's home town in England where he also resided while serving as a officer in the US Army during the Mexican War. Aiken served as sheriff of Johnson County from 1861 to 1865, during which time he helped build what is now Lenexa's downtown square and jail across from current day First United Methodist Church building.) In 1863, James Waring established Waring & McDermott mercantile business on Main Street between Third and Fourth Streets in what is now downtown Lenexa. The company closed its doors circa 1916 but left an important legacy behind: Waring Mercantile Building #2 (now occupied by Kaufman University); Waring Warehouse northeast corner Third Street between McCarty Avenue and Union Pacific Railroad tracks; and Eberhart Bros., Ltd., former grocery store at Seventh and Market Streets which still stands today (formerly operated by Carl Hinson). In 1871, Andrew Miklos opened Miklos bakery on Second Street southeast of Main Street—later renamed Miklos' Baking Company—which would later become known as Mikles Bakery Incorporated.. By 1875, Mikles had moved to his present location at Eighth and Haskell streets within walking distance of both local businesses/markets as well as Wichita State University’s Hutchinson Campus which then existed on Clyffe Road just east of I-435 exit 20Amodern Donnellan Expressway interchange). In 1895, David Ladd opened Ladd Drug Store at NinthStreet south central intersectionof I-435andKansas City Rd., now inside Walmart Supercenter.(see photo below window display signage remaining inside original building)) . Ladd Drug Store continued operation until 1977 when it was replaced by Kwik Trip convenience store adjacent to Walmart Supercenter .) Lenexa has been continuously inhabited since early 1800s when Shawnee Indian tribe settled hereabouts along with other surrounding valleys including Sioux City Landing area immediately upstream on Great American River opposite modern day Topeka

In the Tang Dynasty (618-907), there were two types of sights: iron sights and brass sights. Iron sights were used for rifles, while brass sights were used for handguns. Iron sight sighting devices consisted of a metal pillar with an aperture at one end, through which the gunner could see the target. The other end was attached to a tripod or other support, so that when the gun was levelled at the target, the whole sight line would be in focus. Brass sighting devices consisted of a small case with a brass piece in it that was inserted into the aperture on top of the iron Sighting Device. The brass piece functioned as both an aiming point and a sensitive alarm system should the weapon fall out of focus or off balance during use. During World War I, barrel gauges became more important than ever before because artillery pieces were being issued with machine guns that fired over 100 rounds per minute! To make sure that each shot reached its target safely, snipers had to aim their weapons precisely and maintain good eye positioning in order to hit their targets accurately every time! To do this, they needed accurate aiming Devices such as Gunsights! As technology advanced and barrelling became less important in artillery warfare, Aiming Devices began becoming less common until they completely vanished from firearms altogether during World War II when pistols started becoming popularized instead! Lenexa, Kansas was founded in 1867 and became a town in 1901. The population was 1,811 at the 2000 census. The Lenexa historical area is located within Riley County. In 1907, the first post office in Lenexa opened. It was called "Lenexa Springs". The name changed to "Lenexa" in 1911 when it became the county seat of Riley County. In 1917, the United States Post Office moved from downtown to Lenexa and remained there until it closed in 1963. The city of Lenexa began consolidated operations with Riley County on January 1, 1968. On November 3rd of that year, voters approved a $5 million bond issue to build a new stadium for the city football team and other civic organizations. The Stadium would be named after then-Mayor Clyde Heston and sponsored by oilman Edward Condon III. On December 5th of that year, Mayor Heston dedicated the new stadium which would have been home to the city's football team until recently as well as other civic organizations until it closed in 2001 due to financial problems. The community has experienced many changes throughout its history including two major fires which destroyed most of what remains today: one that burned down buildings near Main Street and White Road on October 10th of 1922 (the only fire in town since 1867) and another that destroyed much of town center on April 15th 1997 ( Episode XXVII ). Today, much restyling has taken place including renaming streets following popular culture items such as Empire Strikes Back or Star Wars . However, some aspects of traditional life still survive such as playing dodgeball outdoors during summertime!
