When Lenexa, Kansas business man and NRA member Don Homan decided to open his own gun shop in the early 1970s, he knew there would be a demand for firearms related clothing. So, he began designing and selling t-shirts with NRA slogans on them. The shirts quickly became popular among gun enthusiasts of all ages in the small town of around 100,000 people. Today, many Lenexa businesses carry firearms related clothing as a way to support Second Amendment rights and promote safety education. In 2016, Homan was inducted into the NRA's Hall of Fame.

Lenexa, Kansas is a small town in western Kansas. It was founded in 1867 as a post office and has since grown to include over 20 businesses. The population of Lenexa was 21,059 at the 2010 census. The community is located on the banks of the Arkansas River and is bordered by Chambers County to the south, Geary County to the west, Shawnee County to the north, and Garden City County to the east. The first mention of Lenexa comes from a deed from John Ritchey to Levi Hite in 1867. This land included part of what is now Lenexa Township and was named for David Lenox who donated 400 acres (16 km²) of this land in 1839. In 1861, Jesse Beavers built his farm on what is now Beaversville Road between present-day Park View Drive and White Sands Drive near where Main Street meets US Highway 16 today. During this time there were only two settlers living in Lenexa: Mr. Beavers and his wife Mrs. Beavers (later Mrs. Arrowsmith). In 1870 an act was passed which allowed for Post Offices within Cherokee Nation lands which had been leased from that nation bythe United States government during Indian Removal Act of 1830-1865(known as The Trail of Tears). This act also created new towns within Cherokee Nation boundaries such as Nacogdoches and Coweta located about 25 miles (40 km) southwest of Atlanta, Georgia then known as Council Bluffs on Iowa’s border with Missouri; these towns were also later renamed after their respective Ulysses S Grant Governors – Nacogdoches being named for General James Ketchum who served during Sherman’s Mission throughout East Texas; Coweta for Ulysses S Grant’s Secretary at War Salmon Pinchot who fought in Mexico during those same years; etcetera). Pete French opened French's grocery store on present day Main Street corner White Sands Drive in 1907 which became one of the town's most popular businesses until it closed its doors in 2009 due to economic recession conditions combined with rising energy costs caused by global warming Kansas Territory formed when Kansas seceded from Missouri on January 14th 1861 becoming law on February 15th 1861 . On February 15th 1861 , Indian Agent Jno Aikenplus forwarded orders from President Abraham Lincoln authorizing Commissioners appointed pursuant thereto including Wm Hennepin & Augustus Griggs surveyed & erected limits lines between Shawnee Co., Kan., & Union Co., Mo., parts unknown . On March 3d 1861 Col Lewis opened an Office at Topeka under directionof Chas Tilton surveyor general

Lenexa is named after Julius Levy, who first settled there in 1881. In 1907 the City of Lenexa incorporated and quickly grew into one of the most prominent cities within Johnson County. Today, Lenexa continues to be a busy commercial center with worldwide influence. The economy is based primarily on education and information technology sectors; however, other industries have also been important in the past including manufacturing and agriculture.
Lenexa, Kansas was first settled by men in 1847. The area that is now Lenexa was part of the Shawnee Nation and it was not until 1854 when a post office called Lenexa was established. In 1865, the city of Lenexa was founded on the east side of the Missouri River. The city grew quickly due to its location and its access to transportation such as wagon trains and stagecoaches. In 1882, the Kansas Pacific Railroad came through Lenexa and made it one of their original stations. The railroad helped make Lenexa one of the most important cities in Kansas.
