The townsite that now makes up Leawood was first developed as a small settlement by farmers in the late 1800s. The name "Leawood" was given to the community by local ranchers because of its high level of rainfall and lack of trees in the area. The original residents were mainly farmers who raised livestock and sold their products from their homes. By 1903, the community had grown enough for a post office to be established, and soon it became an important stop on county roadways. In 1907, Leawood school district was formed and began operations. In 1912, Leawood boasted its own water tower which still stands today! In 1941-1942 during World War II when cities were being bombed throughout America many people fled to rural areas to avoid potential gunfire or death at home – including many women who had married soldiers stationed overseas. Many men also left their jobs to join military service; some husbands returned home after hostilities ended only to find that their wives had already moved away with their children. This relocation caused much conflict between husband and wife as these men were not allowed back into their homes until they could provide proof that all family members were safe and sound (a process known as returns). Many people from LeawOOD died during World War II due to disease or war-related causes such as pneumonia or starvation; however, according to research done by the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 2017 there are more than 5 million Americans who’ve lost life due to natural disasters between 1940-2017 inclusive (including both wars). Afterward many families decided they would rather stay in rural communities where they could continue farming even though living closer didn’t guarantee safety from natural disasters or other risks associated with city living such as crime rates or exposure to poisons like lead paint etc.; so over time LeawOOD has slowly regained most if not all of its former business assets and population growth has stalled out again unfortunately leaving much poverty among its citizens which often affects mental health issues especially among younger generations since most economic opportunities within this town have dried up since then too

Leawood, Kansas was founded in 1867 by a group of farmers and settlers. The town became a thriving center for agriculture and industry, and it remained an important economic engine until the early 20th century. In 1907, Leawood acquired its current name, which is derived from the Algonquian word lea (water). The town’s growing population and industrial base helped make it one of the most significant communities in Kansas during the early 21st century. Leawood’s history can be traced back to 1867, when a group of farmers and settlers arrived in what is now Leawood County. At that time, Kansas was sparsely populated and only had a few small towns. The farmers who moved to Leawood were ones who had been relocated to the area due to changes in the agricultural landscape. At first, they leased land from local Indian tribes in order to grow crops. However, as production increased, these same farmers began selling their acreage back to the indigenous people for use as reservations. This practice continued until 1890 when all of Kansas became statehood territory. As a result of this change in policy, many farming families decided to move into new areas where land was available instead of leasehold property with native tribe restrictions. As soon as Kansas became statehood territory, businesses started moving into Leawood from elsewhere in Missouri Valley at a rate that would have been unprecedented at that time. This migration was due largely to two factors: 1) concerns about whether or not Kansas would become part of Mexico after Texas seceded from Mexico; and 2) expectations regarding howKansas would develop politically within the new country system. Not surprisingly given these conditions, business activity soared throughout much of1890-1910 despite scarce resources available for development outside of Wichita Falls on the Arkansas River Valley east of Topeka
Leawood is a city in Kansas, United States. The population was 51,952 at the 2010 census. It is the second-largest city in Kansas after Wichita. The namesake of Leawood is Lewis and Clark's "expedition" from Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania to Independence, Missouri.
