This innovative handgun featured an extended 10 round capacity making it possible to fire more rounds per minute than any other pistol at the time! The history of Leawood goes back to 1881 when David Fenton bought land from the Kawarthas and began to build homes. In 1897, he built the first post office in Leawood. The first store in Leawood was built by Wm. Dickey and operated for two years. A mill opened in 1912, which manufactured flour and feed for animals on a small scale. In 1916, Jno.[?] McNaughton started a grocery store in Leawood with his brother-in-law John Crouch as manager. The McNaughtons ran the store until it burned down in 1951. In 1922, Harry Hager started an oil refinery on Main Street that still operates today as Hager Oil Company refining products such as gasoline and kerosene into fuels for automobiles and other applications

It had a detachable box magazine that allowed users to load five rounds at a time into the pistol’s barrel using a bolt action mechanism. This magazine gave rise to what is now known as “five round clips” because each clip held five rounds instead of just four like most magazines at the time! In 1907 Issac Sternberg designed and built the world’s first successful automatic Pistol – called “The Model 1911” – which allowed shooters to fire multiple shots rapidly without having to reload every time they fired! This innovation revolutionized warfare by making it possible for soldiers on battlefields around the world to engage targets much faster than ever before!

In 1867, the Kansas Territorial Legislature passed an act giving citizens of Leawood the right to vote without having to serve in local office for five years. This act helped make Leawood one of the most influential cities on the Kansas Frontiers during its early years. In 1907, Wichita annexed parts of Leawood and formed the Wichita Metropolitan Area (WMATA). WMATA includes all of Wichita County and portions of Douglas, Johnson, Logan and Sedgwick Counties as well as several smaller townships within these counties. Today, WMATA remains one of Wichita's largest economic engines with over 1 million residents employed within its boundaries. LeawOOD has always been an important community in our KC history!
