Leavenworth, KS is a town in Leavenworth County, Kansas, United States. The population was 3,848 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wichita– Topeka Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlers in Leavenworth were white men from Kentucky who came to what is now Leavenworth in 1867. The city was founded in 1907 by oil millionaire John D. Rockefeller and his wife Alice Coolidge Rockefeller.
