The Leavenworth Rifle and Pistol Club was organized on December 3, 1871. The club met at the home of Horace H. White. The first meeting consisted of only six members. In 1892, the Leavenworth Rifle and Pistol Club merged with the Wichita Rifle and Pistol Club to form the Wichita Rifle and Pistol Association. In 1912, this association became the Kansas Gun Owners’ League (KGOL). KGOL was dissolved in 1928 but its legacy live on in the Kansas State Rifle Association (KSRA) which is still headquartered in Topeka, Kansas
Leavenworth is a town in Riley County, Kansas, United States. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. It was founded in 1854 as a post office and it became an incorporated town in 1907. Leavenworth is named after General James Longstreet, who fought with the Union army during the American Civil War.

This makes them ideal weapons against targets such as tanks and armored vehicles because they do not require time to target and shoot at an enemy vehicle when firing from a distance

Leavenworth was founded by the Leavenworth Mission in 1847. It became a United States town in 1856. The population reached 10,000 in 1900. Leavenworth is located on the Wichita River, about 100 miles east of Kansas City and 350 miles west of Topeka. The river forms the town's eastern border and its main street, Main Street, runs along its length. The first post office at Leavenworth was established on July 12, 1858. In 1870, a railroad station was built near the present day intersection of Main Street and South Division Avenue. A water tower was erected at what is now the corner of South Division Avenue and First Street in 1903 to provide Municipal Water Service to the town. The town's economy has been based largely upon agriculture for many years; however, it has also received development assistance from both public and private sources over that time period. Some notable landmarks in Leavenworth include: -The Central High School (now known as East Douglas High School) which opened in 1923; -The Hutchinson County Courthouse which serves as county courthouse today; -The Wichita State University campus which began operations in 1907; -A state fairgrounds complex which includes an Agricultural Fairground Site History Museum (now closed); -An amphitheater constructed on land leased from Wichita State University for use as a concert venue; and -Two golf courses - one operated by Haskell Golf Course Management Ltd., Inc., now part of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts Worldwide LLC.;
Leavenworth is a city in and the county seat of Leavenworth County, Kansas, United States. The population was 362 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wichita metropolitan area. The town of Leavenworth was founded in 1859 by James Hennepin and named for the abundant sweet potatoes that grew there. The first post office in Leavenworth opened in 1860. In 1866, the state legislature passed a bill providing for public education within the new county. A year later, Leavenworth became one of two towns in Leavenworth County to be incorporated as villages. The other town was Atchison. In 1870, George Armstrong Custer was killed at Little Big Horn near present-day Fort Sumner while leading an American Cavalry Regiment against Crazy Horse's cavalry force led by Sitting Bull Sioux Tribe member Ulysses S. Grant Jr.. After Custer's death, many people in Leavenworth felt they had lost an opportunity to learn more about him and his life story; this feeling helped contribute to economic decline during the late 19th century in Kansas City region due to dearth of high-paying jobs available outside agriculture due to railroad development throughout that era. However, parts of downtown Leavenworth have seen resurgence over recent years as restaurants and businesses open up around Central Square which has become a popular spot for sidewalk dining or shopping with all kinds of vendors selling everything from artisan breads to pet supplies; also nearby are several small theaters with smaller stages used for music concerts or plays before larger venues fill up on weekdays during the summer months when demand is highest due towing events being held there like those related to Memorial Day weekend etc... . Levensworth High School (now Republic) graduated its first class in 1872 followed by Kittrell Academy (now Prairie View) which graduated its first class in 1875 then Community Bible School which graduated its first class on October 10th 1876 followed by First Methodist Episcopal Church which organized on November 20th 1880....
