That same year, the first handgun manufactured in Lansing was created by the company- the Model 1 Colt Pistol. In 1903, American Arms merged with Western Automatic Firearms Corporation to form National Armory Incorporated (NAI). NAI continued making firearms until 1934 when it merged with Remington Rand Co., which continues to make firearms today. In 1898, at the start of World War 1, Lansing became part of Mexico City as part of its war effort against Austria-Hungary. At that time there were no guns available for military use within Mexico City so most of these weapons were acquired from abroad or through caches hidden throughout the city. Many of these weapons still remain on display today at the Militaria Museum located on Calle Reforma between 9th and 10th Streets in downtown Mexico City. The United States entered World War I on April 6th 1917 and quickly began importation of munitions for use in Europe. On December 15th 1917 President Woodrow Wilson announced that America would be entering into war “on account of our moral obligation” This decision set off a massive arms race between America and Great Britain- both countries had been stockpiling weapons for years before this point! On January 30th 1918 NAI issued their first export license for guns to be exported to Great Britain under license # 98–27 A1(G). This Export License allowed imports of fifty thousand assault rifles per month starting February 1st 1918 however only fifteen hundred were actually shipped out that year due to restrictions placed on U S arms exports at that time by Congress! The majority of these new sales went towards weaponry developed by RemingtonRand Co., such as the 8mm Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR) used by American forces during World War 2 . On July 4th 1919 Naftali Cohen published his book “The History Of Firearms” which became an instant best seller across America thanks largely to its careful research and clear writing style . In 1923 Cohen opened his own gun manufacturing business called Cohen & Sons Limited named after him . He continued making high quality firearms until his death in 1978 . During Cohen’s lifetime he exported over two million piecesoffirearms including pistols, revolvers and shotguns! Today much of what Cohen & Sons produces is reproduced domestically using modern technology!
