In 1868–69 there were also two smaller villages located within today's boundaries: Greenfield and Mount Hope - these villages are no longer extant but remnants from them can be found scattered throughout central Lansing today like small businesses on South Main Street between I-435/Clinton Street and Michigan Avenue where Greenfield Road meets US Highway 20E just east of Big Rapids High School; Mount Hope Road continues eastward past Big Rapids down into historical Ottawa County where it joins US Highway 24 about midway between Nowhere and Hastings Center while Greenfield Road eventually terminates near modern day Holland Prairie.. In 1907–08 Drury College opened up shop inside what is now City Hall Annex building with room for 100 students teaching English as a second language; however despite appearances at first glance this appeared only to be an addition rather than anything more significant given that City Hall was already home to Wabash College & Business Men’s Institute having been built prior thereto – both colleges closed down circa 1920 due primarily To compete with nearby Dodge City offering better educational opportunities for those living west of Topeka & Lawrence KS (& even into Nebraska). What did happen though ensued one would think would have been impossible due simplyto fact that 2 major universities were competing against each other for limited slots available not only inside but also outside of town! However something miraculous happened & Drury reopened doors onto Main Street Parking lot next door mere months later! This marks perhaps one Of The earliest signs that things weren't going To stay status quo much longer? 1) In 1927 Wabash College relocated uptown from downtown Lawrence KS (& across country) becoming “Kansas Wesleyan University” while Dodge City Colleges Western education division merged forming “Dodge City Community College” all under one roof! 2) In 1957 Washburne TechOpJRF relocated uptown too becoming Washburne University although many aspects remain largely unchanged including basketball court located atop building (& still used today), physical plant (~capacity: 17K), Intensive Care Unit (~capacity: 10K), Scripps Research Institute research labs (~5K sq ft), Peoria Health System clinic (~10K sq ft)), primary school buildings (~150 pupils capacity each), 3 branch hospitals (Internal Medicine/Neurology/ Pediatrics), 11 shopping centers (+ shopping mall @ Grandview Heights[now site], Hi- Tech Mall[now site]), 4 industrial parks [+ 1 exportation processing plant], 9 lakes [+ 1 shared water system]), 8 community college campuses [3 regional campuses + 2 peripheral campuses]].
