In 1938, Abraham Lincoln High School opened here which remains one of the only high schools open for students outside of Wichita Falls today. In 1951, First United Methodist Church opened here also which remains one of the few churches open for worship within miles of Junction City today

In 2006 Junction City voters passed a ordinance allowing concealed carry handguns without a license from another municipality or county inside their city limits
