That same year, Wm.'s grandson Ernest Crouch opened an ice cream parlor on Third Street which became known as "Crouch's Creamery". The business continued into the 21st century under various names including Ernestine's Ice Cream Parlor (1924-1972), Mrs.(Emmie) Neumann's Candy Store (1973-present), Clyde & Connie's Chocolate Cake Shop (2005-present) and most recently Icing On The Cake shop (2018). In 1922, Junction City voters passed an ordinance authorising construction of a new courthouse which was completed in 1924 when Judge Johnnie Sledge gave its official dedication speech atrium featuring an electric organ by Pee Wee Reese followed by sessions of government starting that day.
