Junction City, Kansas is an unincorporated community in Johnson County, Kansas, United States. The population was 1,471 at the 2010 census. It lies along the Union Pacific Railroad east of Junction City on the border of present-day Johnson and Ottawa counties. The town was founded in 1887 by wagon drivers as a staging area for their journey to Wichita. The post office was established in 1888 and named after Junction City Township, Kansas. A general store and blacksmith shop were built in 1890; the first school was opened in 1892. A hotel (now known as the Gateway Inn) was erected in 1907; it burned down in 1954. A new bank building (now known as First National Bank) and a church were both built between 1912 and 1914; they are still standing today. In 1916, a gas station/cafeteria (now known as Midwestern Pizza) was opened at what is now Main Street and Depot Avenue; it remains operational today. In 1934, a department store called JCPenney Plaza was constructed near what is now First Boulevard NE outside of Junction City proper; it has since been demolished but its footprints remain visible nearby. In 1937, a small dam across the Arkansas River became effective when construction began on Interstate 70 just north of Junction City; this caused an increase in water usage which led to the development of several small businesses around the dam including two grocery stores and one auto dealership. The flooding that occurred during Hurricane Floyd made matters worse with extensive damage to properties within close proximity to I-70; these incidents helped contribute to original plans for the closure of junction city by 1984 though actual closure never happened due to budget cuts later that year instead seeing Junction City's annexation by Wichita which left it without any governing body other than citizens themselves... Though some efforts have been made over time(elevated parking lot next door to Exxon), there continues to be little progress done towards reopening junction city although many people from outlying areas continue visiting regularly nonetheless hoping for change or even revival
In the early 1800s, firearms were not as common as they are today. The only way to purchase a gun was either through a blacksmith or an owner of agun club. Firearms were also expensive and hard to come by. One man who decided that he wanted to own a firearm was John Brown. Brown became very interested in firearms and started learning about them from his friends and family. He eventually bought his first gun, an 1851 Colt revolver, from a friend in 1858. Brown began practicing with his new firearm and soon became very proficient at it. He went on several expeditions into the Appalachian Mountains to hunt wild game and learn more about firearms. In 1865, Brown along with six other men traveled across Kansas into Oklahoma Territory in order to overthrow the US government there. While doing this, he shot and killed three people before being captured by the American forces. After spending time in prison, Brown was released in 1870 and resumed his practice of hunting rifle ammunition (and pistols) again. In 1875, he participated in a shootout atawning at Adobe Walls near Tucson Arizona which resulted in one death and four injuries among nine participants including himself (the only injury). This event is considered one of the deadliest shootings ever conducted with handguns outside of well-publicized events such as Columbine High School Massacre or NRA conventions (at that time these events were highly publicized). 2 years later, on October 14th, 1877 John Brown committed suicide after leaving Winchester Arsenal Ammunition Plant with three revolvers for personal use

In 1887–88, when Texas Railroads extended its line through eastern Johnson County from Santa Fe Springs to Manhattan, Junction City saw its first railroad traffic as passengers travelling between Manhattan and points east arrived at Junction City Station on May 15 that year; since then rail traffic has been negligible compared with other localities along I-435 south of Topeka. In 1907–1908, when construction began on Wichita State University's main campus at what is now snapdragon@wichitastate.edu website address – which would eventually become home to both Wichita State University's School of Medicine and Health Sciences as well as numerous other academic institutions – Junction City served as one of several towns along I-435 east of Topeka where residents disembarked their cars for access to Wichita State property just south of Topeka Boulevard/Route 56 interchange – becoming "Junction CITY HYDROGEN FERRY" during this time period! For most of the 20th century, however, Junction City suffered from economic decline due primarily to factors such as low population density combined with limited access to transportation infrastructure - including no rail service available within walking distance – making it difficult for people living therelarge businesses or individualsto commute into larger municipalities such as Topeka or Wichita Falls either for work or pleasure; likewise effects have continued up through recent decades despite various efforts by Mayor Donny Schmidt & his team at CITY HOUSING AUTHORITY OF KANSAS TO IMPLEMENT A TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM THAT WOULD ENSURE COMMUNITY CENTRALization AND DWELLING IN THE AREA! Today though continuing progress has been made thanks in part to Downtown Development Authority’s redevelopment strategy that calls for significant renovation & development bucks going towards revitalizing old buildings downtown & creating more active retail districts adjacent thereto! On October 1, 1854, Junction City became the capital of Kansas. On that date, the legislature approved a bill creating the state and setting up its government. The first governor of Kansas was James Fenton.
