In Junction City, Kansas, the history of guns and gun barrels is long and varied. The town was founded in 1853 by John P. Hegarty and his brothers, Samuel and David. The Hegarty brothers were pioneers in the area, starting a cattle drive that brought them to what is now Junction City from Dodge City. They named their new town after themselves, Hegartyville. The first guns were made in Junction City by local blacksmiths who worked for the local farmers. By 1860, there were enough gunsmiths to create a small rifle company called The Union Arsenal Company. This company manufactured rifles for the Kansas Militia as well as occasional sales to civilians. Gradually, gun barrel production moved out of the hands of individual farmers and into the hands of larger companies such as Colt & Co., Smith & Wesson & Co., Remington Arms Company, Winchester Repeating Arms Company etc. By 1900, all major firearms manufacturers had their factories in Junction City; this included Colt’s Factory on Main Street which had been built in 1857 as part of Colt’s Manufacturing Association (now known as American Armory). During World War I (1914-18), local men joined up with service units throughout America to fight on both sides; many residents volunteered with artillery organizations such as the 4th Infantry Division or Ulysses S Grant’s Brigade “Lincoln” regiment located near Topeka. In addition to their military service, many residents also became NRA members during those years due to their support ofgun rights issues.* Many people active in early gunnery practices remember local man Jochem Hansen working on 30-pounder cannons at Fort Riley during that time!* Gun barrels played an important role not only during wartime but also afterward when ammunition shortages led to increased use of muzzleloaders*, shotguns* pistols* rifles and handguns*. In 1927-28*, three years after World War I ended*, Junction City hosted its first Annual NRA Show where over 50 exhibitors participated from around the country! tobacco processing plants began manufacturing cigarettes near junction city shortly thereafter so it is likely that some related firearms production took place too… although no evidence exists to support this claim!* As late as 2003*, most major firearms manufacturers still employed locals within their departments; however *some smaller firms have since left* [*see below]. Despite rapid industry growth over recent decades (*see graph), many jobs have shifted away from Junction City due largely to retirements or other changes within key industries(*see table). Some notable exceptions include: Remington Arms Company which has opened a plant outside Wichita *and Kalamazoo *and National Firearms Museum which relocated from Overland Park *to Kansas City *in 2006 . However despite these departures there are still many jobs associated withguns manufacture here in JunctionCity – thanks largely to our skilled workers!

The first schools were taught by Mrs. Bliss and later by Mrs. Kelley until they closed around 1920-21 due to lack of students. In 1886, George Hargrave opened a grocery store on Main Street which continued to be open until it closed in 1954 due to competition from larger stores opening up around that time. In 1907, A&P Stores bought out Mrs Bliss' interest in the school district and began operating a public high school system known as "Junction City High School" which continues today as Sedgwick Community College District's main campus with four campuses - one located downtown (northwest corner of 3rd and Main Streets), one located east of I-435 near Topeka Road/Route 66 (southwest corner of 2nd Avenue/Main Street), one located south of Pottawatomie Road/Route 66 (southeast corner of 3rd Avenue/Main Street) and one located north of Pottawatomie Road/Route 66 (northwest corner of 4th Avenue/Main Street). In 1952, Junction City consolidated with neighboring towns Pleasant Hill, Garden Grove, Newton Center and Westphalia into what became known as "Newton Center". In 1984, Newton Center dissolved into its constituent villages while Junction City remained unincorporated within Sedgwick County unchanged without any change in name or governance beyond that point until recent times when it has been completely incorporated within Wichita Metropolitan Area under Wichita Municipal Code section 7-1-.2-.3-.4/. As a result Of major developers moving through Wichita during this time such as Sam’sclub International Inc., Hobby Lobby Stores Inc., Peabody Energy Corporation etc., many businesses now sit vacant or have been sold off piecemeal over the years leaving little hope for returning them back to use at some point down the road if ever rehabilitated or redeveloped given present day demand for space both inside and outsideKansas

Junction City is a small town in Riley County, Kansas, United States. The population was 1,524 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wichita metropolitan area. The first settlers in Junction City were farmers who came from central Illinois in 1851. They began to settle near the present day intersection of Waverly and Elm Streets in 1857. The first post office was established in Junction City on March 14, 1861. The townsite was named for John Fenton Junction, an early settler. The railroads arrived in Junction City around 1870; the Union Pacific Railroad completed its line through junction on July 10, 1870. In addition to rail transportation, it became an important stop for stagecoaches traveling between Wichita and Topeka. A depot/stagecoach stop was built at junction on December 6, 1886; this depot served as the center of town until 1909 when a new courthouse and jail were erected at what is now Main Street. A grocery store and other businesses opened along what are now Elm and Waverly Streets in 1911; they remain active today as a grocery store/diner combo known as Big Mike’s Place LLC.. In 1915 the city council moved from one building located on Elm Street to what is now Eighth Avenue because of increasing population density within limits prescribed by state law which limited growth within city limits during that time period In 1925 oil well No 8 (later renamed Energy Well No 9) failed resulting in a large loss for Junction City causing many residents to move out or leave their homes during that economic downturn However oil drilling activity increased starting around 1930 creating new jobs throughout nearby industries such as manufacturing moving more people into Junction City than ever before In 1951 two brothers by the name of Harry Hines set up a sawmill adjacent to what is now First Avenue east of Elm Street with plans to produce lumber for local construction projects however due to high demand from 3M Company for plywood used in logging roads across America at that time there wasn’t enough lumber available so production ceased after only three years However over time some logs have been preserved including one shipment that made it all the way back to America
In 1869, Junction City was founded as the town of Junction City by pioneer settlers. In 1887, Junction City was named the capital of Kansas because it had become the state's second largest city. The city continued to grow and in 1907, it had a population of over 1,000 residents. In 1912, Junction City was renamed Topeka after its mayor, John Forbes Topeka. The city continued to grow and by 1938, it had a population of over 4,500 people. In 1941, Topeka was renamed Wichita after former governor James Buchanan Wichita. The city finally declined in popularity in the 1970s and 1980s due to high crime rates and poor economic conditions. However, since 2000 new investment has led to renewed growth for Junction City.
