The gun case was stored at the family home until 1903, when it was moved to the Ruthven Arms company store. In 1907, the Ruthven Arms company merged with Colt and the Haysville store continued to sell Colts until 1911. From 1911-1915, the store was owned by J.P. Stevens Company and from 1915-1924 by Sears Roebuck and Co. After World War II, the store became known as Wagon Wheel Sporting Goods before closing in 1984.
Haysville, Kansas is a town in Riley County, Kansas, United States. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. The town was incorporated on May 3, 1907. Haysville is situated in the east central part of Riley County and has a total area of 21 square miles (56 km2). The first settlers in Haysville were James and Nancy McNaught who arrived in 1854. They married Anna Sprague. Anna McNaught was the daughter of Nicholas Sprague from New England and his wife Martha Morse from Connecticut. In 1857 they had three children: James A., Nannie B., and Anna M. They later acquired land adjoining their original farmstead which they named "Sprague's Grove". In 1865 they built a log cabin on their property that still stands today as the Haysville Hotel. From this inn until it burned down in 1938 there was continuous service provided by Mrs. McNaught and her husband John McNaught who also ran the hotel with his brother-in-law Milton Moulton for many years In 1907 Haysville entered into an agreement with Topeka to be its physical plant for government services such as printing and postage stamps and also to provide other amenities such as water supplies, power generation, schools, churches, hospitals and more The first post office opened at Haysville on October 15th 1906 under the name Topeka It remained open until it closed on October 14th 1966 due to increased competition from Wichita Falls The last mail delivery took place on September 29th 1966

In 1902, Haysville incorporated as a municipality with a population of 100 residents. In 1907, Wichita construction crews working on Interstate 35 discovered oil shale deposits near what is now Haysville. This led to an increase in traffic through the town and development of local businesses including a coal mine and refinery that produced gasoline and other fuels until 1974. The discovery also helped spur growth in agriculture in central Kansas; today much of what used to be agricultural land within town limits are now filled with housing developments or forested areas devoted to crop production
