Haysville is a town in Clinton County, Kansas, United States. The population was 1,848 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wichita metropolitan area. The first post office at Haysville was established on December 15, 1870, and remained in operation until it was discontinued on October 25, 1907. At that time, Haysville had a population of 184 inhabitants. The original land grant for Haysville was located in present-day Clinton County and included . There are several interpretations concerning the origin of the name "Haysville". One version suggests that it derives from an early settler's name Hauptman or Haley which may have been derived from Old English hæeada meaning "hills" or "place of Gathering." Another explanation suggests that the name comes from Scots Gaelic agus-huala meaning "eagle's Nest," or perhaps from an Indian word hawalahka meaning "to build a fortification." Another account claims that when George W. Hays surveyed the area for his cattle empire in 1872 he named it after himself - Harry - after one of his Rancho San Antonio properties near Fort Dodge, Iowa. Thereafter many settlers added ".vlty" to their names to reflect their growth within the new community; such as Haskell (1879), Vail (1880), Weller (1881), White (1882), Henderson (1883) and Hoyt (1902). According to The History ofClinton County KS Volume II by Leland Capps, there were no schools in Haysville until 1887 when school district officials decided to open one sinceanian across county line would not do well with so few people living within its boundaries. A log schoolhouse stood on what is now Main Street until 1902 when an addition cost $1,000 and replaced it with a more modern structure which still stands today - also known as 'Old School' - serving as the town hall today. In 1897 two additions were made to make four square blocks: one costing $2 per acre and called 'New Town', another adding 300 feet to east side of existing square block for $10 per acre which became Uniontown; this block became known as 'The Square'. According to oral history collected by Ila Jarrell during her research for her book about Clinton County she recalls that Mrs Griggs donated most if not all of her large trees found along East Side Road between Uniontown and Dutch Flat into what is now town center park; these trees provided shelter from bad weather during winter months while construction proceeded around them on main streetcape making way for park development Today this tree grove forms much of downtown skyline view looking out over town

Haysville is a small town in Kansas, United States. It lies about 25 miles (40 km) northeast of Wichita and 50 miles (80 km) northwest of Topeka. The population was 1,980 at the 2010 census. The town was named after John Hays, a cattle raiser who came to the area in 1859. Haysville was founded on the site of an old sawmill. In 1881, the east-west main street through town was renamed Main Street to honor General George Armstrong Custer, whom Haysville had supported during his Indian Wars campaign against Native Americans. In 1915, Haysville erected a wooden cross on the courthouse square as a symbol of community togetherness. The cross still stands today. The town also built a school and cemetery in 1916. A post office called Haysville opened in 1901; it ceased operations in 1975 but remains extant as part of the USPS system's ZIP code 57701
