By 1912, it was clear that precision target shooting required far more than just pleasing optics – riflescopes needed to offer superior magnification range in order to be successful! As snipers became better armed and targets became more difficult to hit at longer ranges, manufacturers started designing new rifle scopes specifically for this purpose. In 1915, British military engineers developed the Scott RifleScope which featured six objective lenses with variable objectives (35mm through 210mm) and boasted an amazing 5x power zoom! By 1918, it was becoming clear that expanding beyond simply providing improved magnification range wasn’t enough; firearms manufacturers needed scopes that could provide accurate fire support while also remaining compact and easy to use! That’s where recoil control came in! Recoil control devices were immediately begins development in response to concerns about how well riflescopic devices could handle recoil caused by firing multiple shots off target at high speeds! As early as 1919, American engineer Harry Blackmore patented his “Bullet Drop Compensation Device” which helped reduce recoil on fired rounds by correcting for barrel drop during combustion within individual barrels! With these advancements in technology come growing expectations for firearms scopes – they must now offer impressive magnification ranges while still providing reliable fire support? The answer is yes!!

It is a comprehensive and well-researched history of Hays, Kansas from its early days as a small town to its current status as an agricultural center and bedroom community. From 1854 until it became a state in 1907, Hays was located in Dodge County on the border of Missouri and Kansas. The town was founded by Captain James K. Hays who purchased land about two miles east of present-day Hays on April 24, 1854. At that time Dodge County consisted of only 6 settlements with a population of about 100 people. The first school in Hays was built on the courthouse square in fall of 1855. A second school was built on the northwest corner of First Street and Market Place in 1862 after Dodge County Judge George Poulson ordered local farmers to provide teachers for their children. The first post office at Hays opened on October 16, 1857, with Wm Silliman as the first recipient (#2). In 1865 Major General Lew Wallace directed Colonel Edwin Cushing to establish military posts at several points along the border with Missouri so that troops could be stationed while those living within easy reach were guarded against possible Indian raids or settler encroachment into Indian Territory (now Oklahoma). In 1870 Captain James Krentz left his family in Iowa City, Iowa and came west to join his brother Captains Isaac (1848-1906) and John Gentry Krentz (1850-1927) at Fort Riley near Topeka where they were organizing artillery for General Lew Wallace's Expedition against Apache Indians led by Colter Haight (1824-96). On December 12th Captain James Krentz filed complaints with United States District Court against four Soldiers named Levi Smith (1825-92), Solomon Northrop (1826-) Philip Kearney (1828-) Charles Pratt(1797-) for taking away his horses without proper legal process; however no action was taken because Captain James Krentz did not have any documentation establishing ownership or jurisdiction over his animals. This would become known as "The Horse Thief case." On January 10th 1870 Major General Lew Wallace issued orders ordering all Soldiers guarding Federal assets south of Canada River to withdraw except under certain specific circumstances which included protecting wagon trains crossing the river before reaching Mexico City; this order also exempted Captains Isaac & John Gentry Krentz who were already withdrawing their forces northward pursuant to previous orders from Major General Lew Wallace personally directing them so. As soon as these new instructions arrived at Fort Riley most soldiers immediately withdrew across Canada River leaving behind many saddles, bridles & other equipment belonging to Captains Isaac & John Gentry Krentz plus much personal property including furniture, clothing etc., which soon found its way back into hands of original owners when Mexican Army reached American side approximately February 1st 1870 unaware that all Commando Forces had withdrawn across Canadian River some weeks earlier! Lieutenant Colonel Nathaniel Denny later testified that he personally supervised withdrawal operations throughout southern Wichita Valley area including Canadian River sector! This event may have been what started what would eventually become known as "The Great Sioux War". Aftermath: Many scalps were recovered but no one knows how many Apaches survived due to lack of food & water during winter months leading up toraid However general Haight ordered all surplusApaches killed rather than surrendered due To political considerations at that time #hayssocietyhistory #kansashistory
