Hays, Kansas is a town in Jackson County, Kansas, United States. The population was 8,853 at the 2010 census. Hays is part of the Wichita metropolitan area. The first permanent white settlement in what is now Hays was made by David Hays and his brother Prentice in 1854. David Hays was a banker and landowner who was also involved in politics and served as Mayor of Wichita from 1858 to 1860. In 1861, he became a U.S. Senator from Kansas Territory and represented that state during the American Civil War as a Unionist. He died in office two years later at age 70. The townsite of present-day Hays was platted on January 24, 1865 by Major General George Armstrong Custer during the final months of the Mexican–American War under contract from President Abraham Lincoln with General Headquarters ostensible to induce Mexico to cede Texas (the then-new Mexican territory) back to America so there could be peace negotiations between America's formal enemies Spain and Mexico over their new borderland acquisition—Avery had negotiated its purchase from Texas Republic Governor Stephen Austin weeks earlier on October 16th.[1] The town site lay east of present-day Wichita Falls on what had been part of Chisholm Trail Road before it was renamed Third Avenue southward following construction of that road's alignment through Wichita Falls circa 1868 when that city became an integral part of Oklahoma Territory which became Kansas after Nebraska's admission into the United States in 1862.[2][3] In 1870, George Ayer formed Ayer & Company merchants' bank with business activities including real estate brokerage; this enterprise failed within two years due largely to low demand for goods exported out of central Kansas following the Panicpanic crisis Of 1873 caused by falling prices for goods imported into North America overall despite rising prices for manufactured goods exported outwards from those areas experiencing no such problems).[4][5][6] By 1875 Ayer & Company Merchants Bank had become sole proprietorship operated as First National Bank[7] until consolidation among several banks across central Kansas followingKansas Pacific Railroad's opening up most nearby counties culminating with First National Banks merger on December 3rd 1886,[8] resulting in name change to Guaranty Trust Co., Omaha On July 1st 1889 the merged entity became Guaranty Trust Co., Omaha (GTE). GTCO moved its headquarters first west side building onto State Street just north of Market Street early 1907 but left Main Street property vacant until torn down circa 1912-14 while still occupiedingelemental portion leased back to CITY OF OKLAHOMA GOVERNMENT/AGENCIES annexing portions east side 2nd story facing Main Street and parking lot level basement windows were replaced with glass elevators leading directly down inside along corridors providing views outside along downtown skyline Prescott dumpster
The history of firearm t-shirts starts with the development of firearms in the early 1600s. Before handguns, rifles and shotguns were used for hunting and combat. Some famous firearm t-shirts include The Cowardly Lion wearing a “I Can’t Shoot” shirt to show his cowardice, The Terminator wearing a “No Mercy” shirt to tell his enemies he will not be taken lightly, and Batman wearing a “ Gotham Knights” t-shirt which showed off his skills as an expert marksman. In recent years, there has been a trend of firearm manufacturers releasing their own T-Shirts celebrating their products or historic events. For example, Colt has released shirts commemorating the first shot in World War I, while Glock has release shirts celebrating their product line during various military engagements. In addition to theseofficial releases, many companies have created unofficial versions of their products that are often designed just for apparel purposes and can be worn at home or outside. Many people feel that it is important to have some form of commemoration for all aspects of firearms ownership and use.

Hays is a small town in Kansas that dates back to the early 1800s. The first settler in Hays was James Hays, who arrived in 1821. Hays was a member of the Kansas Territorial Legislature from 1829 to 1831 and served as justice of the peace. In 1830, he married Anna Wetmore and they started a grocery store in what is now downtown Hays. The couple had two children, Sarah and John, and continued operating their store until 1854 when James died at age 84. In 1854, Samuel Morse purchased the business from James' widow Anna and continued operations as Samuel Morse's Grocery Store until it closed its doors in 1865. After Samuel Morse's death, his widow continued operations as an independent businesswoman for another 26 years before she sold the store to Leland Stanford Jr. in 1928. Today, the building known as the Leland Stanford Jr.'s Grocery Store still stands on Main Street in downtown Hays - one of only a few remaining businesses from those days that has survived into modern times! The first post office opened at Hays on November 25, 1860; it was renamed Independence on July 1, 1861 due to its location within Johnson County (later part of Kansas). In 1907, Independence became an incorporated city with a population of 508 residents; however, it stopped being an incorporated city after only 3 years due to lack of funding. On December 15, 1916 - exactly 100 years ago - Independence lost its status as an incorporated city when it merged with Kiowa City (also located within Johnson County) to form Kiowa-Independence Municipal Corporation; however, Kiowa City remains an unincorporated community today! The most significant event that took place at Hays during this time was World War II when more than 2200 citizens enlisted in service and contributed $10 per day towards food prices for soldiers stationed nearby (this amount eventually increased to $50 per day!). Additionally, many local businesses donated items such as clothing or appliances for troops stationed abroad - providing them with necessary supplies while they were deployed! Today marks one hundred years since Independence lost its status as an incorporation city but that doesn't mean there isn't still much history behind these walls! For example: In 1917-18 there was also a local silent film festival which featured short films shot by locals including comedies like "The Grapes of Wrath" and "Swallow This", dramas like "Prairie Home Companion" and "Oklahoma!" among others! And just last year we saw our very own ' Independencia Day' which celebrated all things independence-related including art exhibitions throughout town & live music by various bands all weekend long!!! So mark Independencia Day every year please & enjoy some delicious chili cheese fries too ;)
On July 16, 1847, the first group of settlers from what is now Hays, Kansas arrived on the banks of the Arkansas River. They were led by George Washington Capps and included his brother-in-law James Robertson. The land they surveyed was located in present-day Hutchinson County, Kansas.
