Another great feature about living here were all the gardens that cropped up around town – they were so beautiful! There were even lily pads near our hotel! It’s interesting how things have turned out since then though – after all these years there are still quite a few farms nestled amongst all those tall buildings in town today!

The town of Great Bend was founded on the site of a small fortification in 1859 by General James Hays.
