The Garden City Rifle and Pistol Club was founded in 1907. The club met at the home of Mrs. Alice Hinton, located on Main Street in Garden City. From its inception, the club had a rifle and pistol range as well as meetings to discuss rifle shooting topics. In 1912, the club erected a building on First Avenue in Garden City which served as their meeting room and also heldgun exhibitions and shoots. In 1917, the club purchased an old farmstead on State Street in Garden City for use as their rifle range. This property remained in use until it was sold to the city of Garden City in 1984. In 1927, the group purchased another farmstead on Third Street which served as their pistol range until it was sold to the city of Wichita in 1981.
Garden City, Kansas is a small town located in the Midwestern United States. The population was 5,191 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wichita metropolitan area. Garden City was founded on October 15, 1888 by residents of nearby Lenawee County and has grown to be a cultural and commercial center for eastern Kansas. The town has a mix of prairie and urban architecture with an median income of $48,000. The first settlers in Garden City were farmers who left their farms near Topeka to come to what they thought would be a more fertile land. They didn't realize that the new land had been surveyed only for farming purposes and not for towns or cities. On October 15, 1888, the people of Garden City met at the home of Reuben Hubbard to form a town government. This was one of the earliest municipal governments in America and it remains in use today as Garden City's government-sanctioned form of government. The city grew rapidly due to its location close to railroad tracks and other businesses which made it an ideal place to build hotels, factories, and other infrastructure necessary for growth. By 1912 Garden City had reached its current size with over 10,000 residents and was considered one of eastern Kansas' most important industrial centers. In 1916 ground was broken on what would become Wichita State University but Growth Warning signals were sounded throughout Wichita until 1922 when Wichita State became fully accredited by The American Association Of University Professors (AAUP). During World War II Garden City became known as "the biggest potato city in America" because so many people from east Texas came here to work on military plants that produced food for Americans nationwide. After the war ended however economic conditions improved somewhat but steady decline followed from then on until 1990 when Garden City lost all its manufacturing jobs due primarily to globalization and international competition.. Today much of the pre-industrial infrastructure that once supported these industries remains extant such as shopping malls and parks which together make up some $60 million annually in economic activity alone For many residents this exists as little more than memories from an earlier time when life was far different

In 1925 the city's population reached 1,500 people and it continued to grow until becoming an incorporated municipality in 1960 with a population of over 5,000 residents. During these decades there were several major changes that occurred in Garden City; however, one significant change that occurred during this time was the introduction of water fluoridation which helped reduce cavities among children. Additionally, while many other cities throughout Kansas were experiencing economic troubles at this time (due largely to prohibition), Garden City kept moving forward through tough times; becoming an important manufacturing center forKansas products such as cigarettes and beer (becoming one of America's "big three" brewing companies). Today there are more than 7 million residents living in GardensceneKC; making it one of America's fastest-growing communities – coming together for fun events such as summer concerts or root canal treatments! And with all these new arrivals comes new hope for continuingornamental beautification along Wichita Boulevard – something that has been attempted but never fully successful because city coffers are always Limited!
