The Panic of 1857 caused an increase in prices for goods exported from Central America which made it difficult for Armstrong to maintain his town's infrastructure and population grew slowly until 1870 when there were over 100 residents living in small frame buildings without indoor plumbing or electricity. Two years later, armory built two blocks east of Main Street served as the first school building west of Topeka; but it burned down within six months because no one could afford to rebuild it according to contemporary plans due to high tuition rates charged by private schools at that time! Playtime Toys!), movie theater(Caballero Theater Company)), several churches/mosques - St Andrew’s Episcopal Church (#1) & Immaculate Conception Catholic Church (#2), Masonic Lodge #518 and Odd Fellows lodge #812 - all preceding becoming active memberships during silent period before prohibition began effective December 12th 1920; also two large barns located south side corner Third Street facing Market Place were used for storage purposes until 1948 when they were razed because they exceeded 50% use! A new courthouse was completed in 1908 using funds provided by businessman Cornelius Vanderbilt II who had purchased lot number 5 on Second Avenue east of Main Street which he turned into self-sufficient recreational area called "Vanderbilt Park". From 1916 through 1932 there was only one business license available per year so many businessmen pooled their resources into developing other activities such as agriculture, retailing services such as banking services etc., making it difficult for any one company To monopolize economy although some successful companies did emerge like Armour Development Corporation who started making handguns there beginning 1899-1910 followed later by Oldsmobile Motors Company Opel dealership
