Dodge City, Kansas is home to the oldest continuously operating weapon flashlight company in the United States. The company was started by three men in 1903 and has been manufacturing weapon flashlights ever since. The product line includes both outdoor and indoor models. It became known as the Duster because of its similarity to characters from Dodge City’s radio program “Dodge City Days” aired on KGBS (AM). The Duster series continued to be produced until 1984 when production stopped due to low sales. However, these weapons continue to be sold through online channels worldwide today. The P7R1A1 tactical flashlight was first introduced in 1979 as part of their “Blackhawk Series” handgun grip light products line made specifically for law enforcement agents throughout North America. New Prague became the capital of Dodge County on January 1, 1871 when it was renamed Dodge City after Ulysses S. Grant's inauguration as President of the United States. Dodge City experienced a rapid growth following its incorporation as a town and due to its strategic location along the Santa Fe Railway line; it became one of America's most important rail cities during the late 19th century and early 20th century due to its role as an industrial center for Wichita County and Kansas Territory

Dodge City was founded in 1867 by Andrew J. Dodge and his wife, Sarah. The city was named after the Dodge Brothers, who were instrumental in its development. The brothers operated a wagon dealership here for many years before moving their business to Kansas City. In 1907, the Dodge Brothers sold their business to Harry W. Perkins and his sons Harry and Franklin Perkins. The family continued to operate the business until it was sold in 1961 to George Peabody & Company of Chicago. For many years, the family owned and operated one of Wichita's largest department stores, the Peabody store on Third Street. In 2006, George Peabody & Company merged with Sears Holdings Corporation to create Sears Holdings Corporation Credit Services LLC which continues to operate as a separate company today under the name Sears Holding Corporation Credit Services LLC
