As one of few remaining towns in Geary County following its annexation by Wichita in 1907, Dodge City continued to grow rapidly until World War II when numbers decreased due to war-time shortages of goods such as automobiles and other consumer items essential for life within her larger neighbor Wichita's expanding suburbs. In 1950 residents voted to annex more than two-thirds of Wichita into Geary County so that they could have more control over their own development; this annexation created much concern among some residents about what might happen if their town were taken away from them again following any future changes in government or policy without prior consultation or consent from those living within it—a fear that continues to this day among some people who live near east side Mesa Avenue where Wichita's eastern border once lay Since its incorporation into Geary County on February 17th 1907 (one day before Wichita became an independent city), citizens have enacted over 150 ordinances regulating aspects such as drinking water quality, noise levels etc., all while maintaining close communication with each other through elected officials located throughout the village/township form original incorporation until consolidation via state statute on December 15th 1959 effective January 1st 1960; this county seat form then serves as both jurisdictional center for all forms county regulations administered byGearyCountYouth Services Department (GCYSD) between Macon St & Elm St & Naito Pkwy’s boundaries
