Gun magazines in Dodge City,Kansas have a long and colorful history. The first gun magazine in the town was built by John A. Dodge in 1881. It was called "The Rifleman". The first handgun magazine was also built by John A. Dodge in 1881. It was called "The Pistolero". In 1907, the first annual meeting of the Kansas Gun Control League was held at the Hotel Commodore in downtown Dodge City. At this conference, it was decided that a new rifle and pistol magazine should be built to serve as an effective tool for keeping citizens safe from criminals and other undesirables who might attempt to break into or steal firearms from local residents. The new magazine, which became known as "The Rifleman", initially consisted of 25 to 30 guns but soon grew to over 100 rifles and pistols with an addition of shotgun shells and rifle rounds (later known as shot). In 1912, "The Rifleman" merged with another gun magazine, "The Pistolero", creating what is now known as "Dodge City's" most popular firearm publication. From its inception until 1978, "The Rifleman" had been published twice a week on Thursdays and Fridays; however, starting in 1978 it began being published four times per week on Tuesdays only! In 2006-2007 the frequency of publications were changed back to twice per week but they remain at four times weekly today! Today, "The Rifleman" remains one of the most popular firearm magazines in America with more than 10 million copies sold annually!

Dodge City had a gun magazine history that goes back to 1892. The first Dodge City Gunsmith and Rifle Club was formed in 1892. The club met at the old Indian Trading Post on Main Street. The first issue of the club's journal, "The Leader," was published in October of that year. In 1897, the Dodge City Gunsmiths' Association was formed and Dodge City became its headquarters. In 1901, the first rifle club meeting in Dodge City took place at the Masonic Temple on First Avenue. That same year, the city built a new gunnery range on Seventh Street between Union and Pacific Streets and began inviting members of various rifle clubs from around Kansas to use it. In 1907, a shooting gallery was opened within the range by director JF Laddessee with funds provided by Mrs. John Wittell of Wichita Falls, Texas. The following year saw another increase in membership with 10 new clubs joining the association.. In 1912, an all-new building for the city'sgunneryrangewas erected next door to Laddessee's facility – now known as Municipal Court Annex Building #1 (later renamed Municipal Court Annex Building #2). This building served as home to boththecity'sgunneryrangeand its own magazine until it burned down in 1917. In 1915, Mayor James Hickey established what is commonly referred to as "The Hickey Rule" which banned handguns from being carried into town limits without special permission from local police captains or other municipal officials possessing duty pistols carrying permits issued by their respective departments.( See also: ordinance no. 2) A similar ordinance prohibiting rifles only went into effect in 1916 but eventually expired due to lack of enforcement (See also: ordinance no.") Although this ordinance did not specifically mention magazines or gunslingers/shooters/ammunition dealers therein, it is generally thought that this prohibition applied equally whether or not such establishments were engaged in these practices(See also: ordinance no."). In 1918 an addition to Municipal Court Annex Building #2was constructed – now known as Secondhand Emporium (now called Secondhand Shop)). This store functioned as botha GUNSMOKEING establishment ANDan ammunition store before it closed its doors for good in 1984.(See also: ordinance nos.")
Dodge City, Kansas is a small city in southern Kansas. It is the seat of Dodge County and was founded in 1868. As of the 2010 census, it had a population of 44,362. The first settlement in what is now Dodge City was made by General John Doniphan during the winter of 1855-56. The town was named for him and his nephew, David Dudley Clark. Dodge City's history began with the construction of the Wichita & Santa Fe Railway in 1881. This railroad connected Wichita, Kansas with Santa Fe Springs, California. The railroads brought settlers to Dodge City and many businesses were built along the railway corridor. In 1907, the United States Post Office moved from Topeka to Dodge City because Topeka was too far away from business districts such as Wichita and Saint Josephsville. In 2002, construction began on an $8 million shopping mall called "The Forum". The mall would be located at I-70 and Main Street east of downtown Dodge City. However, this project failed to come to fruition due to financial trouble within the developer's organization. Today, Dodge City remains a small city with a rich cultural heritage that attractions visitors from all overKansas and America alike!

The first rifles with effective high velocity ammunition started being produced around this time which allowed for rifle mags to become even bigger in size compared to handgun mags overall capacity limit

Nichols opened a general store and post office at Third and Main Streets which became one of the largest stores in central Kansas He served as mayor of Dodge City from 1898 to 1902 and as a member of the Wichita School District Board from 1903 to 1907 Dodge Citys location made it an ideal place to act as a center for cattle drives that brought new settlers into western Kansas during this time period
Dodge City was founded on August 16, 1867, by General George A. Smith and his army as the new capital of Kansas. The town quickly flourished, becoming a center for commerce and culture. The city would continue to grow in size and influence over the years, becoming one of the most important settlement in the area. In 1938, Dodge City was annexed by Wichita, Kansas.
