There are more than twenty-five different gun magazine stores in Derby and they operate all over the place. This area is known for itsgun industry, so there are many places to find handguns, shotguns, rifles and ammo. Many of these stores have been around since before the turn of the century! The first gun magazine store was opened by William Hogg in 1892. Hogg was a tailor who started selling guns at his shop on Main Street in Derby. He was very successful and soon had several other stores across town. By 1907, he had become one of the largest gun dealers in Derby! By 1910, there were over fifty different gun magazines operating in Derby! These magazines sold handguns, shotguns and rifles as well as ammunition. The industry began to grow rapidly and by 1912, there were over 150 different gun shops operating in Derby! Despite this growth, it wasn’t until 1921 that the first handgun magazine store was opened up in Derby! This store was called “The Rifleman” and it operated out of an old grocery store on North First Street. The store became very successful and soon had two others associated with it! In 1925, The Rifleman merged with another handgun magazine store called “The Bowmans” to form the current company that operates today – Derringer Firearms & Ammo Company Incorporated (DFA). DFA has been manufacturing high quality firearms products for customers throughout central Kansas since 1925!!!

In 1916, the Union Arms Store closed down and went out of business. However, it reopened as an armory in 1917. It remained an armory until it closed again in 1932. In 1935, the Derby Armory began manufacturing rifle shells. It continued doing so until 1949. The Armory also manufactured shotguns from 1937 to 1944. From 1948 to 1951, it made handguns too- however, it only made revolvers until 1957 when they introduced their first semiautomatic handgun- the Colt Police Pistol
Derby, Kansas is a small town in McPherson County, Kansas, United States. The population was 1,353 at the 2010 census. Derby is part of the Wichita metropolitan area. The first settlers in what would become Derby arrived in 1867. A post office was established in 1868 and named Derby after Derbyshire, England. A flour mill was built near the present site of Derby in 1870 and began production of flour and oatmeal which were shipped to Wichita for processing into foods such as bread and pasta. The mill closed in 1912 but a store continued to be operated until 1951 by Dora Laughlin until it closed along with most other businesses within the city limits of Wichita on December 15, 1951 due to budget cuts by Mayor George Romney. In 1907 John Hamer founded Waco Grain Elevator Company which became one of the largest grain elevators in the country; it had two stores located at 9th Avenue and Walnut Street which remain open today as Waco Grain Exchange Center & Arcade. In 1915 he started Waco Telephone Corporation (later known as AT&T) with three telephones located at 7th/9th Streets NW corner 10th Avenue NE; these phones still exist today as part of First National Bank building across from US Post Office building on Walnut Street NW corner 11th Avenue NE - this building now houses Waco Municipal Court Building No 624-A - these three phones are also rare examples of early telephone service being offered through public square instead of private wires like later days when home phone service became more common Wichita resident J T Greaves formed Greaves Advertising Agency Incorporated on October 22nd 1928 with his first ad campaign "Direction Please" featuring local farmers selling produce door-to-door On January 3rd 1929 Greaves married Isobelle Roper who survived himoma cancer only four months before he died on January 26th 1929 aged fifty nine years old After his death Isobelle took over management reins from her husband’s executors thru their children including daughter Lois Greaves who continues to manage business affairs up until her retirement in 2013 under her current name “Isobelle Greaves Corp” On November 5 th 1946 derby native Florence Ballard became Mrs Harry Sibley (1915-2002) when they married during a special services dedication for Harry's grave at Fairview Cemetery east side Of Highway 69 North outside Wichita . Mr Sibley ran an advertising agency out of his house next door from where we get our name from . They divorced about 1978 but Isobelle kept some assets including property offshoot company Missisfield Graphics which produced flyers for KANSAS CITY FC soccer team that used their front yard for outdoor displays while their house was used as offices by other businesses such as Pinnacle Foods until 2003 when Missisfield Graphics went out OF BUSINESS because profits stopped coming after Kansas City FC got taken over by KCKC radio station . Currently there is a plaque placed inside brick wall behind Home Depot store entrance documenting their relationship ..Missisfield Graphics never reopened again after shutting down

Derby, Kansas is a small town in the northeastern United States. The population was 2,089 at the 2010 census. Derby is located in Wyandotte County on the border of Kansas and Colorado. It is about 15 miles east of Topeka and 36 miles west of Lawrence. The first settlers to Derby were Jesse Dyer and his family who arrived in 1859. They began farming land around a mill they built on the banks of the Arkansas River. A post office was established in 1861, but no mail ever reached Derby because it was too far from Topeka. In 1875, J H McConnell started a wagon train carrying goods to Wichita, Kansas from Dodge City, Nebraska via the Santa Fe Trail. This railroad connection helped make Derby an important community during this time period. In 1901, Henry Ladd opened a general store and post office in what is now downtown Derby. This business became one of the most successful in town and soon developed into a two-story brick building with a large porch on Main Street that can still be seen today. Ladd's store was also home to the first local radio station in Ryder County when it aired from private studios atop his building from 1923 until 1951 (KQXR). In 1924, Harry Cramer opened his grocery store next door to Ladd's store which quickly became one of town's mainstay businesses for many years until its closing in 1984 due to competition from larger stores within town limits). On July 8th, 1907, President Theodore Roosevelt delivered remarks ata fairgrounds near present day Derby which stimulated new development within town limits including shops and restaurants opening up along Third Street between US-6 and State Line Road while other businesses such as hardware stores flourished along Second Street between US-6 and Haskell Avenue; these developments also helped contribute to increased economic activity throughout derby during this time period known as "The Gilded Age". After consolidation by three adjacent townships within Wyandotte County following statehood in 1907 (these townships were called "New Stanton", "New Dorp" & "Derby", respectively), much more serious competition for jobs occurred as services gradually moved out oftown while industry slowly shifted away from rural areas towards metropolitan centers throughout central Missouri/Kansas City area beginning around 1959 continuing until 1997 when all manufacturing operations closed down withintown limits except for some light industrial activities which continue today albeit with reduced production due to rising costs associated with modern technology etc.).
