After repeal of Prohibitionusa starting 1919 brought about increased demand for ammunition yet again resulting in continued production Increases at Eli Whitney until 1926 when they closed their doors because they could not compete with private industry pricing! This left toolmaking as the only significant commercial activity taking place outside of agriculture during this time period! In 1927 Derbyshire Rifle Club reorganized under name "Derby Gunsmiths" Incorporated with John Prentice as President/CEO followed by succession planning which culminated in Harry Dyson becoming CEO upon his election in 1932 !!! During World War II there was no restriction on manufacture so gun manufacturing resumed unabated except for wartime shortages caused by rationing! Production returned rapidly once war ended however profits had dwindled somewhat due largely to decreased demand following V-E Day !! Incidentally Harry Dyson who had retired from his position at Derbyshire Gunsmiths died suddenly just prior to its sale into private hands making him quite an overnight success story !!
