Coffeyville, Kansas is a town in Osborne County, Kansas, United States. The population was 1,523 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wichita metropolitan area. The Coffeyville Rifle and Pistol Club was organized on November 15, 1892 by Wm. J. Hargrave and A.W. Carleton in Coffeyville. The first meeting was held in a room rented by Mrs. Wm. Pritchard and had only twelve members present; there were no dues paid at this time! On December 5th, 1892 the club conducted its first field trip to Eddytown for a rifle-shoot competition with thirty participants from five different towns in Osborne County! It wasn’t until 1898 that the club decided to make their home within town limits – ground was already being acquired on Fourth Street between Main and Elm Streets! In 1899 they built a clubhouse which still stands today (cannot be entered). That same year also saw the introduction of arms training for all citizens through the formation of a Citizens Volunteer Fire Department! On October 2nd 1903 local resident Hiram Sennett detonated an explosive charge beneath the stagecoach stop near where Coffeyville now stands as part of an anti-slavery demonstration; damages were minor but it did spark off an intense debate over safety measures for outdoor events staged in Coffeyville during those days! In 1906 local artist John Siefert designed and fabricated two rifles for use by local militia company #2; these rifles would be used until 1912 when they were replaced by more modern firearms! In 1909 while attending Heartland Normal School (later Wichita State University) students founded Sigma Chi Sorority Incorporated with Mr./Ms./Dr., Charles Fenton as President/CEO/Director of Membership Affairs; membership rapidly grew from seventy seven members to one thousand six hundred fifty nine members within three years!! Upon graduation from college in 1913 Mr./Ms./Dr., Charles Fenton sold his share back to Sigma Chi Sorority Incorporated and continued as President/CEO/Director until his death in 1966!!! Coffeyville has experienced many changes throughout its history including: joining the Union Army during World War I as part of "the war to end all wars" against German forces; becoming an agricultural center due to irrigation projects undertaken during World War II; becoming an industrial center due to advances made in agriculture during both world wars; experiencing heavy growth after semiconductor technology became available which led to increased production at nearby Wichita State University leading to new job openings hereabouts; losing its status as a rural community after oil exploration began adjacent thereto beginning around 1970 resulting in increased traffic congestion and less access to open spaces once seen hereabouts - however although some residents have moved away over time other residents continue living hereabouts full-time providing support services for their historic community & tourist destination!!

In 1863 the railroad arrived and helped to drive out the prehistoric Wichita people from this area; as a result of this invasion there were no more Wichita settlements until after the end of World War II when they began to return again due to new opportunities available in the area. In 1865 Coffeyville had one school which became two years later by act of the Legislature; it closed during 1886 due to lack of funding though it reopened in 1888 under new leadership with David Sibley serving as Superintendent until 1893 when he resigned to take his fortune home with him. A second school opened during 1889-90 but closed again before completion due to lack of money or interest; it reopened under new leadership once again and became operational until 1907 when it also closed because of a lack of money due largely to problems with building materials (a possible predecessor thereto being nearby Joplin). During World War I Coffeyville served as an airfield supplying other towns in Sedgwick County with food and munitions; however all operations ceased following armistice on November 11th 1918 despite having been activated three days earlier on October 25th 1917 pursuant to General Order No 2145 issued by Major General Leonard Wood regarding military supplies moving into Sedgwick County from Kansas City Missouri via Topeka Wichita Falls Independence Kansas City Nebraska Territory). A Post Office was established at CoffEYVILLE on December 17th 1856 which remained open until July 15th 1860 when it moved back east across Red River Valley Railroad into present day Sedgwick County proper; this same office would serve as the registrar for various local land grants including that now included most parts of downtown CoffEYVILLE along Main Street through today's housing development called "The Hill". On January 1st 1861 Micah Jacobs installed a Transcontinental Telegraph Line aerial cable line between Topeka Junction east & westKansas City KS & their main station at Joplin MO just south side Of Shawnee Mission Road leading thence directly To Dodge City KS overland w/o touching ground vizdescription: "From Topeka Junction east TO Shawnee mission road south side & thence northwestW Stage Coach Lines stage coach stopping opposite US Post Offices At Dodge city Kansa all train going thru these stations coming directly To your door." Jacobs had negotiated better terms than any other individual or group offering service beyond simply providing communication lines between distant points - something that had never been possible before or since!

Coffeyville is a small town in Butler County, Kansas, United States. The population was 1,643 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wichita Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded in 1881 by John Coffey and his wife Anna Campbell. It was named for General James Coffey who fought in the American Civil War. The first store in Coffeyville opened on Main Street in 1883. In 1895, a post office was established at Coffeyville and remained open until it closed in 1907. In 1925, the community became an official city after approval from the Kansas Legislature. On May 14, 1951, the city was renamed Coffeyville after Jens Aage Christensen who served as Mayor from 1945 to 1951 and also helped create the city government which remains today unchanged except for its name change
