Coffeyville is a town in Sedgwick County, Kansas, United States. The population was 792 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wichita metropolitan area. The first people to come to Coffeyville were the Kiowa and Comanche Indians. There were two churches in Coffeyville when it was platted in 1881: First Baptist and Second Presbyterian. In 1888, the American Railway Company built a line from Topeka to Coffeyville, and so there was more business for the two churches. A school was also built in 1886-87 at what is now Cemetery Road and Third Street. In 1902, Harry Coffey founded his own flour company in Coffeeville after leaving his business operation in Topeka with his brother John Gage Coffey. The company became one of the largest & most successful on the continent until its sale to JB Hunt & Co., Inc., of Omaha, Nebraska in 1955-56. In 1903, Harry Coffey sold out his flour business again (to JB Hunt) but kept some of it here as an existing grain storage facility known as "The Grain House". This building still stands today on Cemetery Road next to The Grain House restaurant which opened its doors in 1951). After World War I ended, many veterans returned home from Europe and came through Coffeeville looking for work; this led to new industry being started here such as a machine shop that produced radios for military use during World War II On November 25th 1909 local high school student Clyde Saylor turned on a dynamite beneath an old post office building located east of town near US Highway 503 (now called 3rd Avenue) Blanco County OK - detonating explosives resulting in $1 million damage/exterior loss immediately surrounding town including parts of Indianola TX - about 5 miles distant from present day Coffeeville KS

Coffeyville is a town in Sedgwick County, Kansas, United States. The population was 979 at the 2010 census. The first post office in Coffeyville was established on July 1, 1881. It was renamed Pawnee City on May 12, 1886. The town of Coffeyville was founded by lumbermen prospectors George and John Coffey on August 17, 1876. They named their new town after General James K. Polk, who had won the Mexican-American War and become President of the United States. The city became a railroad center; the Union Pacific Railroad built a line through Coffeyville to Topeka in 1887. In 1907, the city built its first school; it remained an elementary school until 1974. In 1912, the city voted to annex part of Olathe, Kansas; this annexation created a twin municipality with a population of over 100,000 people which still exists today as Olathe-Coffeyville Borough (Kan). In 1933–34, when Wichita Falls became an important market for agricultural products due to its location within easy driving distance of Fort Worth and Dallas proper (the two largest cities in Texas), Coffeyville began to experience economic decline because Wichita Falls made more money selling goods exported from those larger cities than it did generating revenue from local businesses that supported agriculture and services within its boundaries

The first post office was established in 1881, and the first store was built in 1885. In 1902, the name of the town changed to Coffeyville after General Ulysses S. Grant's visit to that area. The post office closed in 1907, but the town kept its name until 1959 when it changed to Coffeyville- slickrock country Store.
