The Atchison, Kansas Rifle and Pistol Club was founded in 1892. The club fired many of the first shots at the fairgrounds in Atchison. The rifle and pistol clubs were often the first to organize shooting matches in the town. In 1914, theAtchison Rifle and Pistol Club merged with another gun club to form the present day Atchison Pistol and Rifle Club. The early years of this club were a time when pistols were only available as single shot weapons. In 1921, an automatic pistol was added to the club inventory and it has been our mission ever since to keep this handgun type available for members who may want it. In addition to handguns, we also offer muzzleloading rifles which are made for use with shotgun rounds or other soft targets. Today, we still offer these unique rifles as part of our membership program!
