In the early 1800s, Atchison, Kansas was a thriving center of commerce and culture. The city was founded in 1868 by George Atchison and became one of the most important cities in America. In 1922, the Atchison Board of Trade decided to build a new industrial park which would house up to 20 companies. The park would be located on what is now the downtown area of Atchison. The park's first phase was completed in 1924 and included 27 buildings that housed businesses such as Armour & Co., National Cash Register Company, Perry-Lambert Brewing Company, Midland Telephone Company, First National Bank and many other companies. Phase Two of the park was completed in 1928 and included another 27 buildings. This phase became known as the "2nd Generation" because it featured increased security measures such as metal detectors and armed guards at entrances. Phase Three of the park was completed in 1936 and included another 55 buildings which were designed specifically for industry purposes. Phase Four of the park was completed in 1938 and included yet another 55 buildings which were designed specifically for use by government agencies like NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration). Phase Five began construction in 1939 but was cancelled due to World War II efforts. However, work resumed after hostilities ended on September 2nd 1945. Phase Six began construction on October 1st 1946 but again stopped due to lack funding; however, it resumed later that year under new management with support from United States Government officials interested in utilizing the land for economic development purposes only instead of military production facilities like those proposed earlier! Phase Seven took place between 1951-1955 when a new administration came into power who wanted to modernize society but could not find any suitable uses for what had been built! Finally, Phase Eight started construction between 1957-1959 but again halted due to lack funds once again; however this time it resumed successfully thanks to private investment! phases nine through twelve followed suit with even more builds until eventually allocating over 350 acres (191 hectares) withinphase eight proper with plans for up to 525 acres (224 hectares) beyond that if appropriate development occurred!
