However, little is known about the individual shooters who have employed this technology and the effects it has had on the shooting community. The purpose of this paper is to provide an overview of shooting protection history and to discuss some of the factors that influence its use. The first firearms were designed with safety in mind. As technology evolved, so too did the need for effective shooting protection systems. One of the earliest forms of shooting protection was cocking barrels, which allowed shooters to rest their hands comfortably while keeping their fingers close to the gun muzzle. This system was quickly replaced by shot-guns, which featured breechblocks that prevents rounds from hitting other nearby people or objects (Ferguson et al., 2009). Today’s shooters often face numerous dangers when firing shotguns and rifles. These hazards can include ricochets, projectiles that bounce off surfaces and other gunmen who may be trying to shoot at targets that are out of reach (Goudreau and Kappeler, 2003). To prevent these dangers from occurring, various shootingprotection features have been developed over time. Some common features include chokes and stocks that reduce recoil or stop projectiles from hitting other individuals or objects (Lipton et al., 2006; Jelinek et al., 2007). AlthoughShotgun Protection History is garnering increasing attention due to recent events such as Newtown Connecticut school shootings, little research has been conducted on this topic in depth. Consequently, much remains unknown about how each individual shooter utilizes Shooting Protection Systems (SPS) when engaging in hunting or target practice. This lack of knowledge could lead to serious accidents or injuries occurinhundredsofschoolchildren every year!

Arkansas City is a city in Sedgwick County, Kansas, United States. The population was 997 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wichita metropolitan area. The first permanent settler in Arkansas City was James Hargrave in 1881. He and his family built a cabin on the site of what is now the Arkansas City Municipal Airport. In 1885, John Denton founded an agricultural company that became one of the largest grain farmers in Kansas. Denton's son-in-law, Hiram Beal, also founded a grocery store and post office there in 1912. The town name was originated by George Ritchie when he suggested it to J.D. Power & Co., who had named their new paper "The Wichita Eagle". In 1922, Arkansas City incorporated as a city and soon became known for its arts and culture scene which included many local symphony orchestras and theaters as well as its own jazz band and blues musician circuit tourney series called "The Great American Blues Festival". It was during this time that artists such as Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, Chuck Berry and Little Richard performed at various venues around town along with many art shows including The Realist/Abstract Expressionist Showcase of 1942 at the Art Students League of Kansas University (ALKU). On July 15th 1951 Pryor Air Force Base opened due to World War II AAF occupation from March 1946 until September 1947 when it closed following Japan's surrender; however parts of Arkansas City were still used for storage during this time period by members of the USAF Ninth Air Force Command stationed at Dyess Army Air Station adjacent to present day Wright-Patterson AFB IN USA until May 1952 when all military activity ended in Sedgwick County resulting in no civilian development or growth within miles radius of Dyess AFB other than some stores operated by members of USAF Ninth AF command Detachment 3 located on Hawkins Avenue just east side airport entrance gate) On November 14th 1959 while Dyess AFB USAD was closing after 50 years operating they transferred all remaining personnel from Dyess AFB to White Sands Missile Range which bordered Sedgwick County on three sides
