In 1938 Fred Kapp created what would later be known as Kapp's Driveway which runs east-west through much of downtown while still providing access to most residences within walking distance although today much less than at its original inception primarily because various members of the Kapp family sold their interest in 1978 during a real estate boom that resulted in prices doubling between 1977 and 1978 including one such sale that netted Andover Town Manager $700 over two months! Although originally intended only for residents who could produce their own snow plows -now open to all citizens)-the driveways soon became popular with nearby farmers who used them to drain ditches near their farms or bring water from wells deep inside their property; eventually becoming an amenity enjoyed by all passersby regardless of whether they had heavy equipment available or not!
