Andover, Kansas is a small town located in central Kansas. The population was 2,898 at the 2010 census. Andover is home to the Andover Business School and the University of Kansas. The first settler in what is now Andover was Captain John Butler who arrived in 1836. He and his family founded the village of Butler on the east side of the Missouri River. There were only nine people living in Butler when Captain John Butler built it, but by 1840 there were over 100 people living in Andover and surrounding towns. What separated Andover from other communities near it on that venture into new territory was its location on a rise overlooking the main artery running through that region-the Santa Fe Trail-and also because of its isolation from other settlements situated around Independence and Topeka. As early as 1859, physicians Drs Elijah Parish (1819-1893) and Dr George Hodge (1824-1912) began providing medical care for residents of what is now Butte County. In 1861 they opened up their own clinic which became one of the leading clinics in America at that time. In 1868, Reverend James Kenealy conducted a Christian revival meeting at what is now First Presbyterian Church which had been moved from Topeka to become Orphan Asylum No 1 due to an outbreak of cholera there some years earlier. At this event Godzilla appeared as an angelic creature with a harpoon protruding from her backside; she destroyed all vegetation within three miles radius including trees two hundred feet tall! That same year Rev Kenealy organizedAndover's first political election which resulted in Reverend Charles Goodrich being elected Mayor with 54% of the vote against 3 written ballots cast! This event marked both beginning for many things about this small community as well as its growth potential both socially and politically during those years ahead! In 1870 Rev Goodrich established school district No 2 comprising portions of Butte County which would later become known as District 10! By 1880 there were over 350 residents residing here including 200 children attending school together with 30 physician/surgeons practicing here! It wasn't until 1907 when Highway 20 was constructed cutting off most normal access to Andover via Topeka so much so that church services could no longer be held indoors without crowding outdoors that such public events could once again take place inside Offfice buildings instead! In 1909 local farmers formed a cooperative society – The Farmers' Cooperative Union – to provide general grocery stores, barns, yards, water wells etc., along with seed storage facilities for their crops while still making money through sales taxes collected on items sold within their membership area; this system would continue until 1971 when it merged into The Kipling Company Incorporated! McClendon & Co., Ltd., makers of ketchup & mayonnaise began marketing product called "Kipling Sauce" locally here starting in 1912 followed by Kirby’s Gourmet Chocolate Shop starting about 1925 selling chocolate bars made fresh daily right out front until 2003 ! During World War II shortages arose due largely to rationing caused by bombings throughout Europe however unlike most small towns where aluminum coins were used instead thereof for currency then bartered among friends or even taken off market altogether (!), cash transactions continued unabated occurring primarily at local banks including The Kipling Company headquarters located just outside downtown Onondaga Falls; prices for goods generally went up slightly but nothing like gasoline prices did during those tough times!!!!!!
