West Des Moines, Iowa is a city in the U.S. state of Iowa and the county seat of Polk County. When American troops entered Europe during World War I they found vast amounts of equipment left behind by British forces who had withdrawn from continental Europe just prior to war's outbreak; this equipment included artillery pieces and supplies needed for developing new U .S .
