Waukee is a city in Iowa, United States. The population was 17,721 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Waukee County. The first white person to live in what is now Waukee was James Fenton in 1827. In 1854, John C. Watt founded the town of Waterloo on his farm west of present-day Waukee. The name "Waterloo" originated from Canadian General Sir George Scott's cavalry unit that camped there during the Peninsular War while they were awaiting departure for Mexico City. In 1870, when Waukee and Waterloo were both towns, they became one municipality with a population of 930 residents. In 1902, it merged with neighboring Cedar Rapids to form the current city of Waukee with a population of 17,721 as of 2010. At that time, Cedar Rapids had an estimated population over 20,000 while Waukee had only 10 thousand people. Since its incorporation into the city system in 2002, WBUI has been the primary radio station for all municipal services within downtown Waukee including law enforcement and firefighting; as well as providing local news updates and weather forecasts for most areas within downtown limits every day throughout the entire month; as well as historic auxiliary services such as trash collection and road maintenance which are provided by other Municipal Agencies located outside of our jurisdiction or without any connection to our Municipal Services either through funding or volunteerism

Waukee is a city in Johnson County, Iowa, United States. The population was 9,711 at the 2010 census. Waukee is located on the eastern edge of the agricultural Midwestern Plain, bordering the states of Nebraska and Kansas. It is bordered to the north by Clear Lake and to the east by Osborne Township. To its south it borders Beloit and Waterloo townships. The first people to live in what is now Waukee were Native American traders who traveled through this area during their spring trading caravan routes. In 1836, James Cuming founded a gristmill in what is now Waukee after purchasing 800 acres (30 km²) of land from John Slingerland. The original mill site still stands today on University Avenue just west of State Street. The first store in town was built near where present day Main Street and West High School are located. In 1851, George Fenton acquired 1,500 acres (500 km²) of land east of present day Waukee along State Highway 12 for $10 per acre ($2/km²). He formed a company with other settlers to develop this land into a farming community called Fenton Prairie which later became Waukee Village
